Cd stuck in laptop and

Hi

Push the tray back to fully closed. Then straighten a paper clip and insert obe end of it into the small hole you will find on the tray cover of the CD/DVD drive. You will feel the paper clip hit a plate which, if you push it, will release the tray.

The drive tray has a mechanical press plate that releases a clip holding the tray in. As long as the CD is flat in the tray. The tray should open.

I hope this helps.

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. To be able to determine if the problem is caused by a bad monitor or motherboard you need to connect an external monitor on the laptop and tap FN + F4. If you will be able to see the picture on an external monitor it means that the problem is the LCD. If you won't see an picture on the external the problem is caused by the motherboard.

Pxe-e61: media test failure check

Normally, your laptop should be configured to boot up from the hard drive before trying the network boot up. When the hard drive fails or is no longer available, or the boot up sequence in BIOS Setup has been changed so that the network boot is set before the hard drive, the symptom you describe fails.
I would recommend that you do the following:
1. Check BIOS Setup & make sure the boot sequence is set in the correct order (Hard Drive 0 should be before Network Boot).
2. Make sure that the hard drive is seated properly in its slot & that all connections are tight.
3. Make sure that the hard drive powers up when you turn on the laptop.

If none of this helps, then your hard drive has failed.

Unlock bios password gateway mt6452

There are two ways that you can unlock the BIOS password for your Gateway laptop.

1) Gateway has a master password for unlocking their BIOS, however it is not available for free on the internet. If you do a search on ebay you will see that there are a number of people that are offering the password for sale. Prices range from $25-39.00. If you check with your local Gateway repair depot they will probably also have the password. Chances are that unless you find a generous tech they will probably charge you at least the same amount of money, if not more.

2) The official resolution as posted on the Gateway site is to do a system restore with the discs that were provided to you with the laptop. Depending on how their discs are setup you might be able to do what is called a repair install. This will effectively reset your passwords, as well as re-install your Windows operating system without wiping out all of your programs and any data you may have saved on your hard drive. If this option is not available to you when you boot the system with your repair disc then you will end up wiping out the entire hard drive and re-installing the original operating system and software. This means that your laptop will go back to exactly what it was when you first turned on the system. This would also mean that any programs and data that you saved to the hard drive will also be wiped out.

You can also try and contact Gateway support at 800-846-2301, and follow these instructions to get to a live person:

Speak "Customer Support"
Speak "Representative"
Mumble something but not clearly
Speak "Continue"
Speak "PTG00000" for the serial
Speak "Yes" when asked if you have registered the computer
If asked to repeat your serial, use the same number above

The system will then take you to a live person rather than make you circle around their automatic menus and responses. Depending on the person that you finally get on the phone, and if they have access to the master password, they might be willing to give it to you. Otherwise they will tell you to use the restore discs that came with the laptop as described above. At that point you can also ascertain from them whether or not you can do a repair install, or whether you have to wipe out all of your data and start from scratch.

These steps should allow you to resolve your issue. If you do have further problems please don't hesitate to let us know. Thank you for the opportunity to assist you in resolving your issue.
