I turned my oven on

Hello, Wjmorris721 - There could be a clog in the gas line for your oven. You will first need to telephone your natural gas provider and ask if they will send someone to your home to check the gas connections. There should not be a charge from the gas company for this service. There may be a gas leak, which can eventually cause an explosion at your home. The second possibility, after checking the gas line and connection to your oven, is that something is faulty with the electric igniter for the oven. First check the fuse box or circuit breaker panel of your home the fuse for the oven connection may need replacing or, with a circuit breaker, the switch for the electricity for the oven may have flipped off. Once you have made sure there is no blown fuse or flipped circuit breaker, then the igniter mechanism may need replacing. You may find this YouTube video instructive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mCyxYINXRs You will need to purchase the correct igniter for your oven. If you do not feel comfortable enough to replace the igniter yourself, then I suggest you find a Whirlpool appliance repair business in your area and schedule a technician to come to your home and make the needed repair.

Whrilpool gas range Mod. GW395LEGD0 Serial IMJ0663181 OVEN DOOR LOCKED CAN NOT OPEN

If its a self cleaning model and you tried to stop it in the middle of the cleaning cycle the door will not unlock. Disconnect it from the power, let it stand a few hours then plug in. If not opening try running the self cleaning mode and let it finish completely. When it finishes after it cools down sufficiently the door lock should go off.

Bulb cover

Yes, the light socket includes the bulb cover for the oven. You didn't give the full model number for your range; I used the model GS460LEKB0. If you look at the picture of the part here, http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/Whirlpool-Parts/Range-Parts/3196701/0022/664/Model-GS460LEKB0/1198/0124002?keySuffixId=NA&pathTaken=partSearch&pathRender=modelComponent&documentCompId=W0110056&diagramPageId=00004&productTypeId=x&searchModelNumber=GS460LEKB0&subCompDesc=Chassis&brandDesc=WHIRLPOOL&modelDesc=GAS-RANGE&blt=11&shdMod= , you can see that the cover is included. (It's also shown separated from the rest of the socket in the parts diagram (part 28): http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Whirlpool-Parts/Range-Parts/Model-GS460LEKB0/1198/0124002/W0110056/00004?blt=06&prst=&shdMod= .I hope this helps. Oven is Electrically charged Or Uses LPG domestic Gas?.

GS460 is not the full model number for the range. The range needs both electrical power (120V AC) and gas. The electric power is used for the burner igniter and controlling the range thermostat. The GS460LEK can be used with either NG or LPG. It came with the NG orifices installed at the factory; a conversion kit needs to be installed to use LPG. (The cap in the regulator also needs to be turned 180 degrees to read LP.) This should be done by a trained installer. Most Whirlpool ranges will have the conversion kit attached on the back of the range near the regulator. See the installation guide from Whirlpool for your model, try https://www.whirlpool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/OCManualsLiteratureSearchView?catalogId=10561&langId=-1&storeId=10211&krypto=m3wLp9EUOpUUfCAXtvB5kw%3D%3D&ddkey=http:OCManualsLiteratureSearchView . The installation guide for the GS460LEKQ0 is available at https://www.whirlpool.com/digitalassets/MLPDF/Installation%20Instructions%20-%208522956.pdf .I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

I have a Whirlpool Super Capcity 465 Elec.Range,

Hello Denise,

Very likely the reason it overheats so much is a defective oven temperature sensor, the oven temp. sensor is located in the oven cavity and it should be checked to see if it is within range.

This is what the sensor looks like oldtech2332_152.jpgTo check it,it should be disconnected from the wiring and using a meter set to measure ohms of resistiance and check the sensor at room temp when oven has been off to be between 1060-1100 ohms. If that ohms value is way off the sensor indeed is bad and should be replaced,if at room temp it is 1060-1100 ohms the sensor is ok and the problem lies within the control board.

Whirlpool Super Capacity 465 Elec. Range, the oven

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

This indicates an open/shorted oven temperature sensor and to solve this problem the sensor needs replacement. If you wan to be sure before replacing the sensor then you can test it with a voltmeter for around 1100ohms....if it reads more then this then it needs replacement however, if the reading is around or less then 1100ohms then it is the control board that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
