Marley md26 line voltage thermostat

The Black Wires from the md26 are your load(the heater) and the red lines are your line(power). The lines are also paired up on the thermostat with a red and black on the left and are red and black on the right. In the actual heater connect the black to the black wire and the white to the white and connect the grounds. In the thermostat connect the black from the heater to left side black( remember there are pairs left(black, red) right (black, red) and the white to the right side black connect the black from your power to the left side red and the white from your power to the right side red. Should be ready to go.

I have a base board heater in the basement. It's never been connect up the wiring is all there from the breaker box to the heater,it has 1blk.1white and the ground. heater has 1blk. 1 red & therostat

You need to take a meter and see if you have 220 volts between the black and white. if you do have 220 then hook white wire to the red on the on the thermostat and the black to the black wire on the thermostat. on the other side of the thermostat hook the red and black to the red and black to the heater1_1_2012_2_49_23_am.gif

I want to install marley 240 volt hydronic

Regardless of the wire which you intend to use for safety reasons it is best for you to use two different circuits. These equipment are heavy duty and often they could encounter little malfunctions which the circuit might not be able to support. Also it is best to use 2 circuits so in case there is ever a problem with the circuit it wont affect both units at the same time. Although running both on the single circuit will work but it is just not a safe thing to do as they are best separated.
thanks for using Fixya.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

I am putting baseboard hot

Not sure that would pass code. But, you may want to check with the local building inspections dept in your area, before doing it. The other down side will be, the heat will start 12" of the floor rather than floor level. As you are aware, heat rises, so that would mean the lower 12" to the floor is going to remain cold. Want feel very good on bare feet that just jumped out of bed.

Do you have a pic.

Two wires to the T-stat should go to W and C which is W for heat call and C represents common!
When the T-stat is set to heat it will connect the 24v red wire to the W terminal therfore sending 24v to the heater and the common wire completes that circuit. Make sure to use an inline fused wire to test so you do not blow your transformer. Easier to replace a fuse then a T-form

I have a large room

Using the equation I = P/E where "I" is Amps, "P" is Watts, and "E" is voltage, we find that your 5000w circuit will have an Amperage of 20.83. A 22 amp tstat will work, it will just leave you no room for surges. I would suggest splitting the baseboard and using 2 thermostats. Hope this helps
