I want to clean the white gritty minerals from the fly wheel inside the humidifier. I took the three screws out but the plastic wheel will not move. I'm afraid to force it...might crack or break.

If you've been using tap water, then you likely have hard water deposits (scale) on the heating element, which will eventually cause it to stop working. Try cleaning it with an overnight vinegar soak, or whatever is suggested in the manual if you have one. Once most of the deposits are gone, it shold work again. We have had a separate make for years and just use tap with no problems.It leaves a water mark on the water holder but it cleans off.If you have a water filter already on your tap or a Brita type container with a filter,feel free to use that too.Either way,it will not hurt the humidifier. Suspect that you may need to run white vingar through it and clear the atomizer. You should see mist all the time even when the humidity level is reached.

If it will plug into standard wall socket it is 110 volts. 240 volt plug is different

All question need full 'make model (what it is)' to answer efficiently. Some actually spay a mist of water, but the better one suck dry air in and blow moister air out through the saturated filter membrane. The ones that spray water mist damage furniture and anything near it. If it is the spray type, it needs descaling.
