How do I check my voicemail?

If your voice mail is hosted with your Telephone company dial your home phone number.

If your using the built in recorder there should be a play messages button on the main docking station

The caller ID does not show the correct day and

When I first switched to Packet 8 (now 8x8) I found out that my automatic time set would suddenly shift to 3 hours difference. The problem became difficult to find, because it was only one of 3 lines on my phone system. I came to find out that it was because the first call on my system after 2AM set the system time, and if it wasn't on the 8x8 line, it didn't change the time.

A quick call to 8x8 and they gave me the password to log into the 8x8 box to set the time zone to Eastern time.

Check with your dial tone provider or their web site and see if you can do the same with your unit.

New vtech phone model cs6229-3 headset keeps saying line in use

These phones look at the voltage on the line to determine if the line is in use.

Do you have any devices on the line that get power from the phone line? If so, they may be loading down the phone line causing this issue. If you have these types of devices on your line, try disconnecting those devices and see if the problem goes away.

Otherwise, your phone line may be defective. You may need to contact your phone company to get the problem resolved.

Name of device that locates the phone by beeping

Look for "menu" on your hand set, scroll through. If your phone has the feature, it will be listed somewhere in the menu, I'm certain. It may be called 'locator' or 'beeper' or even 'find it'. Your set may allow intercom communication, if so, find that feature and call the missing hand set. I'm sure you looked for this already, but it bears repeating, look on the base set, is there a "locate it" button?

One 6041 handset will not connect, while the second handset does.

Unplug the entire phone set system from both electrical power and wall jack for approx 2-3 minutes and replug.

It's a reset measure that allows the entire system to reset / reboot as well as stops any and all line feed memory from the live phone line to hold the fault.

Such can be somewhat common when sharing the line with a DSL connection or wireless router is in use.

I keep hearing an echo when i speak into my phone

some phones have a natural problem with this due to the electronics in the handset others may have a button that says channel or scan this will allow the handset to look for a stronger channel between it and the base most of the time that will cure the problem. if not hang up and try your call again it will allow the base to do the same thing and may clear the problem up. nether helps you may have a defective phone.

Voicemail Light on base/phone has little mail picture! no new one

Had a G E cordless with the same problem. Instruction manual was of little to know help - only reference to the voicemail was on the indentify parts picture and that you had to have the service through your service provider. Tried calling GE all they would do was keep pitching there tech service for a fee. Since the unit was almost 2 years old they said it would be "cost prohibitive to send it for repair" and if I did not want to pay for tech support (starting at about $30 and up depending on the problem) they would suggest I buy a new phone!!!! I paid $169 for this phone less than 2 years ago 6.0 with base and extra set and they say it is obsolete. After much searching (on my own) found the problem. You need to call and talk to your phone company. If any service disruption, repair, add on service, combining services, etc have taken place they may have changed your service. Without notifying you they may have "upgraded" your service so that all unanswered calls go to their wireless version of an answering machine registered to your phone number. They do not have to tell you they have changed or upgraded your service to do this. The easiest way to tell is to have someone call you and be there when it rings but don't answer. If after a certain amount of rings it stops (8 or less) or even better is you have an answering machine and it doesn't go to the answering machine - there's your culprit!!! Call your tester and ask them what "voicemail message" they received - if any. The amazing part to me is friends did not even notice the different message - we were missing appointment checks and everything due to the little "complimentary upgrade". For my telephone through TDS the way to also check was to pick up the phone and dial *95. This service can only be turned off by the phone company - hopefully before it wears down your handset batteries like it did ours in less than 2 weeks.

Phone trying to connect to the base but cannot

You possibly have a Mhz signal conflict with another appliance in your home or in another 'apartment' if you live in a complex.  If not, there is a similar or identical signal (with the same Mhz listed on your phone in your home from another appliance trying to use the same frequency) interfering, like a router or router/modem for wireless internet.  I had a similar problem when I had a wireless home phone not connecting to the base and would not call, stay connected or code right with the base.  I used a Linksys router to connect to an AT&T modem and nothing matched. Until I got AT&T to upgrade me to their "2wire" router/modem combination built in and my wireless internet problem was solved.  But, the V-Tech phone lost it's ability to connect or operate properly after that, even with a new battery.  We scrapped the wireless base and phone and now stay wired, also an option.

Static on handsets

if you have DSL , Make sure you have a noise reduction filter plugged into the jack before you plug the phone into the filter.

Make sure you plug your phone on the "Phone" side of the filter not the "Data" side.
