Can't receive or call out. There is a continuous monotone sound when you pick up phone along with the dial tone

A low battery _could_ do that. But it sound more like a bad circuit board.

CORDLESS HANDSET GOT WET,

Dry it as much as you can... Let it sit in the sun under a towel NOT IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT! if you have a blowdryer with a highspeed/COLD setting, that will help also. *DO NOT use a heat setting that is too hot for you too hold your hand in front of or you may damage the electronics! Then if the phone still doesnt work, put it in ziplock bag full of (uncooked/dry) rice and wait until the next day. The rice will soak up the moisture (like those little moisture packets that you find in dried food and stuff that say "don't eat"). It will not ruin the phone, but put the phone in the bag first and then the (dry/uncooked) rice. *DO NOT shove it in the rice because you could get a grain lodged in a port or something! Try using enough rice to completely cover the phone. Don't worry about wasting a bag of rice either, you can still wash and cook it! *DO NOT try to microwave or stick the phone in the oven!

New phone says I have

If your phone line has voicemail service from your phone company, that's where you'll find your message. The voicemail indicator on the phone is there to let you know there are waiting messages that you should pick up. Otherwise you won't know that until you go to make a call and hear the stutter (interrupted) dialtone the phone company sends you when you have messages. Follow whatever procedure your phone company gave you to pick up your messages.

My phone keeps blinking telling me I have a new

Try unplugging phone line and power cord to main phone unit for a couple of minutes. Then, plug everything back in. That should do the trick. It's happened to me before and can be quite annoying - I know. If you're still having trouble after trying the above you may need to call your service provider to refresh you line (especially if your phone svc is bundled with your other cable svcs). Hope this was helpful. Vote/Rate this solution.

Will it work in High Rise building , any

This is not a mobile phone but a cordless one. The signal arrives by wire till the base which retransmits it to the headsets. The thickness of the building outside walls does not intervene in the propagation of the signal: the source is inside the apartment.
The phone should work. You may have some out of reach messages if the apartment is huge and the base and headsets are too far apart, but otherwise no problems.

I have a Panasonic KX-TG6051CM

I had the same problem, and it seems that the battery charging circuit in the handset had locked up, constantly charging the battery until it overheated. I was able to reset the circuit in my handset by completely draining the battery. Here is the procedure:

1. Remove the handset from the charging cradle, and leave it on for a few days until the battery runs out, and the handset finally turns off. At his point, the battery will be very low, BUT NOT COMPLETELY DRAINED.

2. Next, you must manually drain the charge remaining in the battery by shorting out the two contacts on it. Shorting won't damage the battery, since it is holding very little charge at this point. An easy way to physically do this is to remove the battery, and place a piece of thin wire across the the two contacts of the HANDSET. I am referring to the contacts inside the handset that connect to the battery, NOT the contacts on the bottom outside that connect the handset to the charging cradle. Next, put the battery back in, sandwiching the wire between the battery's contacts and those inside the handset. This will hold the wire in place. DO NOT PUT THE HANDSET BACK INTO THE CHARGER, WITH THE BATTERY SHORTED OUT.

3. Wait about 30 minutes for the battery to completely die. Remove the jumper wire, and but the handset back into the charger.

4. If the battery was fully discharged , you will get a message on the handset telling you that you should let it will charge for 7 hours. If you do not get this message, then either the battery was not fully discharged, or your problem is different from mine. Try the procedure again in Step 3 for another 30 minutes to discharge the battery some more.

5. If you get the "Wait for 7 hours to charge" message on the handset, then leave it in the charging cradle for the 7 hours requested. After that, it should work fine.

Let me know how you make out.

Panasonic KX-TG6051M 5.8 GHz -Caller ID view problem

I have a panasonic KX-TG6051CM 5.8 phone with 3 handsets. After less than a year 2 of the 3 handsets developed the same problem, almost in the same time ( a couples of hours apart). The battery indicator shows low battery and is charging continuously even though the battery is fully charged ( when i swap the battery with my 3rd handset, the battery indicator shows fully charged and works fine ). The handsets were never dropped, never used in a moisture ladden environment ( like bathroom ) and when not in use they were kept in the charger. Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.
