to format sony ericson mobiles follow the step
step1. go in menu and enter in the setting option
step2. in setting menu search for master reset or factory setting option.
step 3. enter in master reset option it will ask you for code.
step4 enter code 0000
now you are done.
0000 is default code it will work unless you have changed it.

This is a technical problem that you can't fix it at home . Repair it at a specialist, but i sugest you to buy a new cell . And try to get a nokia because Sony Ericsson it is a weak company !

Well if you are tied to a particular network all you have to do is to unlock your phone to use it any other GSM network. You can get the unlock code through online.
