A very famous issue with SE Phones, commonly known as WSOD White screen of death.
No, this isn't death. All you need to have is the USB Data cable of your phone, if you have it then proceed otherwise get it from somewhere, the cable is common for this W series.
Ok now, the easiest way.. download this application. Install it and run it. Follow the on screen instructions. This is the firmware update utility, if the FS(File System) is ONLY damaged then this application is useful. Otherwise continue the reading.
Ok, if that application failed to correct your phone, Download PhoneXS and the Main and FS files for W550i according to your region like Europe or Generic, all can be found on topsony.com, you will need a free account there.

i got sony ericsson w580i. i can't operate my mobile as on screen shows "configuration error. pls. contact your network operator or service centre" i did contact my network operator but confirmed that my sim is in usual working state. i can only listen to call but i cant go to main menu,neither i can listen to song. even i cant able to make call. pleasehelp me

This is a famous issue known as WSOD (White screen of death) But don't worry its not dead, the firmware is damaged and is causing all this mess. To proceed you should have the USB Data Cable of your Phone (DCU-60) It comes with the phone. If you didn't have one get it borrowed by your friend or someone, all the W-series phones uses the same cable so you can get any one's. Ok, after getting the cable the second this you need is a PC with an Internet connection, Have it? ok now easy as 123.
Navigate to this page, its an Update utility this will install a fresh copy of the latest firmware available for your phone, NOTE: You Phone will be as out of the box condition, Everything will be lost.
You can also download the Update Guide its also there on that page. All you have to do is to download the application, install it and run. Everything else will be guided to you step by step, by the application.

To get GPRS/MMS setting, you need to contact your service provider through phone or go directly to their office.

They will send you the settings for your model. You will receive service settings in the special text message called as smart message. Please save the settings to your phone and set it has default settings. Then you can start using the GPRS/MMS in your phone.

Hi this is a very common problem with all flip and slide phones and even laptops and notebooks, the problem is to do with the data ribbon that connects the screen to the circuit board in the bottom of the phone.
now inside this ribbon are several single strand copper wires and over time open and closing the phone causes these to break and you then lose the connection with the screen.

as this is such a common fault it makes the part itself cheap to buy and cheap to get fitted. it isnt something you can do your self as you need specialist tools to take the phone apart and to fit the data ribbon.

if you want it repaired the cheapest place would be one of those small independent phone shops as the bigger one will have to send it off and you will be charged extra for this, the smaller phone shop should be able to fix it whilst you wait or the next day at the latest.

its up to you if you think the phone is worth getting fixed then it wont cost much to get done.

the keypad you say is constantly giving problems and you have replaced it twice, seems the problem is with the phone circuit board, i recommend you bring it back to sony service center and explain the problem in details to them or replace the phone
