The fix for the Ericsson z520/z525 White Screen of Death (WSOD) is to buy a new flex cable and replace it. You can get one off eBay for like $10 after shipping.

Taking apart your phone can be a little tricky. You'll need a T6 Torx bit and a little courage. You can use this site as a start. After that, a pair of tweezers and a few photographs to get you back where you started is all you need. I can post a couple pics I took, if there's interest.

Note this only fixes the WSOD case where the phone still can make and receive calls, you just can't see anything on either screen.

Cancelling all of your voice call diverts will solve the issue.

First try a factory reset on the phone..if that doesn't help it must be a problem with you're phone or low signal in you're area..

the instructions for bluetooth were incorrect. Someone please list the actual steps to turn on bluetooth if you can't see screen.

TOOK 2 TIMES TO WORK..BUT I JUST TOOK OUT THE BATTTERY AND THE SIM CARD...THEN PUT IT ALL BACK IN. RE STARTED THE PHONE AND AFTER THE 2ND TIME OF DOING THIS...PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

The little square silver magnet is located next to one of the black torx screws in the cover. If you are looking at your phone with the cover open and the keys right side up, it is the black screw under the rubber plug on the right hand side. The edge of the magnet fits into a pocket that is molded next to the screw hole in the inside half of the cover. Since you have already opened your case you probably know to use a #T7 torx screwdriver for these screws. I hope this helps. --Mike.

Start with the Z525 closed. Next open your phone. Press the right (-) key 1 time to get Menu. Click joystick down 2 times, then joystick right 1 time, & then center joystick select button 1 time to get Settings. Click joystick left 1 time, then center select button 2 times to toggle Bluetooth OFF. Close phone & you're done. I hope this helps. -Mike

First open your phone and be sure it is on. Next select Menu. Press the joystick right 1 time then down 2 times to get to "Settings". Press Select. Joystick up 1 time to get "Master Reset" & select. Joystick down 1 time to get "Reset Device" press select. Press "Yes" and the phone will be reset and restarted. Hope this helps. -Mike

If your phone is a Cingular or AT&T branded Sony Ericsson Z525 and your Smart chip is from another cell company, you might have to get your phone unlocked. If it is from another AT&T phone, it should fit right in and power up. I know this might sound dumb, but always be sure the words "smartchip" are facing out with the little corner notch on the chip in the upper left when looking at the back of the phone.
