My Lexmark X2500 will no longer scan anything and

Make sure the usb and leads are securely sated the drivers for the scanner might have been corrupted you might have to uninstall the scanner restart your computer then reinstall your scanner if your printer/scanner came with an installation disc the drivers could be on it you might have to uninstall the printer/scanner restart your computer then reinstall the printer/scanner and its drivers click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll to ports(COM&LPT) + to expand you should see a communication port and Ecp printer port you might see a yellow ? ! Question/exclamation mark or a red X this will mean you need to install a new driver for this device right click you will have options to update driver disable uninstall or select properties again you will have the similiar options also have option to troubleshoot hope this helps you

When ever I buy new cartridges one or both will

It could be that the cartridges from that particular retail store are old stocks. Maybe it would be best that you contact Lexmark Presales Department or purchase online from www.lexmark.com.

A plastic strip came off the printer

The plastic strip (transparent strip) could be the encoder strip. The encoder strip is responsible for the proper positioning/movement of the ink cartridge carrier along the carrier assembly. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance.

When I go to print, the printer has a C 1 E that

Please remove the cartridges from the printer. Take a dry lint free paper towel and gently wipe the contacts on the back of the cartridge (not the bottom from where ink is present). Wipe the contacts inside the printer (on cartridge carrier). Please snap the cartridges back into the cartridge carrier and please try to print a printer self test.

Unit was working fine.It just

Leading cause of paper jams is debris/foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed area. Please follow steps below to fix the problem:


1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.

2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.

3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.

4. If feeder is clear, place the printer back on the table, open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.

5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions/debris in the cartridge carrier's path or the paper path.

6. If cartridge area is clear, close the cover.

7. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark X2500 printer driver on your computer. Select your operating sytem > download > execute the file. Just follow the instructions on your computer screen.

Please note that if you have refilled your 28A cartridge, it can no longer register it's ink level. However, since you also tried a different cartridge which did not fix the problem, I would recommend you to contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

Make sure you are inserting a genuine Lexmark cartridge.
It could be a slight communication problem between your cartridge and your printer. Try to remove the cartridges from your printer > close the printer cover > unplug / re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it > when the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges.

Lexmark does not recommend the use of refilled cartridges. These tend to degrade print quality and cartridge/printer performance.
Please note that once a cartridge is refilled, it can no longer register its ink level.

  2. Right-click the Lexmark 2500 Series icon.
  3. Click Printing Preferences.
  4. Click the Save Settings menu.
  5. From the Restore section, select Factory Settings (Defaults).
Try to print your document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Lexmark does not recommend the use of refilled/remanufactured cartridges. They tend to degrade print quality and cartridge performance since refillers don't have access to Lexmark ink that is specially formulated by Lexmark to pass through microscopic nozzles at extremely high temperatures.
Note that when a cartridge is refilled it can no longer register its ink level.

Describe your X2500 All-In-One Printer

The error could be to either a communication problem between one of your cartridges and the printer or a short in one of the cartridges.Please follow the steps below to identify and fix the problem:

1. Make sure the printer is on.

2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.

3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.

4. Close the printer cover.

5. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.

7. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.

8. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.

9. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new cartridge.
