I am getting a Code 5100 error during the intial

5100 error means the carriage is not moving right and left properly, or there is grease on the encoder strip. Look at the clear strip with black stripes behind the carriage and wipe off any grease with a Q-tip.

Stops printing a full page picture half-way through and prints the rest on the next page in some random place.

I noticed that when I restart Windows, I can print one sheet fine, the second sheet prints only half. Restart again, and I can print one more sheet.
My local Canon helpdesk proves as unhelpful as all helpdesks these days.

Mp600 pixma printer

I'm not sure if you've already checked this, but this was my issue. I, too, would try to print something and it would make a great deal of clunking noise but would then say that there was no paper and told me to load some. I went to the Canon site and before I actually went through the process of cleaning the print roller, I checked the feed switch button on the display panel. It's right below the ON/OFF button and, what do you know, it was set to feed from a paper cassette instead of the back loading tray. I pushed the button and it's now printing fine. I'm sure we must have accidentally hit the button when we were trying to turn the printer on or off quickly. Hope this does the trick! It's always nice when it's something easily fixed!

When I go to print something it tells me it's out of paper and it isn't! I can here the machine act like it is loading the paper

Hi Pat.Normally if a printer tells you that it's out of paper it generally is.If however, you can see paper and can categorically say that it is not out of paper then there is generally something blocking the paper pick-up path. Take the feed tray out and make sure there is nothing hiding in there like a paper-clip (or food!).These machines are pretty robust and should normally last several years before giving this sort of error, so I would always look for 'something in the way' before going any deeper.

Mp600 error 6A00

I have the Canon Pixma iP4000R printer. I had an error code of 6A00 and my power light was blinking/flashing green-orange-green-orange-green-orange-green-orange-green-orange-green-orange-green-orange-green-orange-green-orange-green-orange-green-orange-green-orange (12 oranges).

I tried the “waste ink counter reset reset” procedure: Power on while holding the stop/reset button and pushing the service button twice, then pushing the stop/rest button 4 times to clear the error, but that didn’t work.

My ink cartridge carrier wasn't moving. I thought I had a paper jam.

I looked at a few blogs about my error on other Canon Pixma models and they kept talking about “sponges”.

The following is what I discovered that cleared my error and now my printer is back to printing!

The “sponges” are 2 hard pieces of absorbing plastic or something of the like. I was looking for a softer material like the long thin gray foam strip material in my printer. The 2 "sponges" on my Pixma iP4000R were next to each other-one was rectangular and one was square-like. Originally they were white but the ink made them black/navy.

The "sponges" are located on the right under where the ink cartridge carrier "rests".

I didn't see the sponges at first, as there was a white backwards “L” shaped plastic piece that had a spring attached to it. The “L” shaped piece was moved forward out of its place. I used my pen tip and pushed that piece back and found that the rectangular "sponge" had popped out of its place.

I used a pen tip popped both “sponges” out and rinsed them with water and voila they were once again white. I think the rectangular one had so much ink on it it popped itself out of place.

My error is gone and I can print again!

MP600 with Mac OS X - no borderless printing option?

I had the same question. I found the answer at Canon's site but I can't link directly to the page so here's how I found the solution...
1. Go to the Canon Support site. 2. In the "Please enter your question field" type: How do I Print edge to edge? 3. Hit the "Search" button. 4. Click the #1 (top) search result "How do I Print edge to edge?" 5. Click the #1 (top) solution: "Use Borderless Printing (Mac OS X) MP600 6. Follow the directions.
It seems the main thing you need to do is go to the "Page Setup" dialog. Then make sure you've chosen the MP600 in the "Format for:" popup menu. Finally, in the "Paper Size:" popup, select "A4" then "A4 (borderless). It's a hierarchical menu.
FWIW I still haven't gotten a "perfect" borderless print. Seems you gotta get the paper in there exactly straight...
