I have no sound on my phillips gogear vibe 4 gb

I can ALMOST guarantee that the earbuds, earphones, or head phones are broken. Before getting new ones, check and see if the metal piece in the headphone plug-in is wiggley or moves in any way. If so, then the whole thing is jacked.

Locked

Switch the lock symbol on the bottom of the player to unlock the little button from left to right. That should do the trick.

How do I remove music folders which are write

It's quite a pain, isn't it? I had the same problem on a GoGear Vibe -- I'm guessing my answer will be similar to yours, though the menu options are probably a little different.

On the Vibe itself, I went under Settings > PC Connection Preference. MTP was selected, so I changed it to MSC. After that, I reconnected it to the PC, and was able to delete the 4 folders that were write-protected.

So what's the difference in MTP and MSC? MSC just connects like a plain old USB flash drive. It doesn't let the PC know it's dealing with an MP3 player. MTP tells the PC it's dealing with an MP3 player, and allows you to transfer and play copyright-protected content.

I downloaded the philips media converter but it

I had the same problem. I finally discovered what to do, as nobody seemed to know what to do, even Philips. Here is what I did to get the program going, even though it didn't see the connected GoGear Vibe (which Songbird did see as connected.)1) Find where your Media Converter is installed. Mine was located at C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcSoft\Media Converter for Philips2) Locate the file named "MediaConverter.SET", which is in the folder mentioned in step 1.3) Use a text editing program, like notepad, to open the file you found in step 2.4) Within the file, locate the line that says "ProfileNeedActivation=1". In my file, it was on the 31st line.5) Change the line from "ProfileNeedActivation=1" to "ProfileNeedActivation=0" That is, change the number 1 to the number 0 (zero, no the letter O)6) Save the file.7) Run the program & enjoy.A couple of notes: You may not be able to save the file once you're done editing. On my system, there were permission issues preventing me from saving the file directly. When I tried to save, notepad informed me that I couldn't save in the folder, and offered to allow me to save to my Documents folder. I did that, then copied the file from my Documents folder into the correct folder, as found in step 1. When copying, I chose to copy and replace the file. When I did so, the system required Administrative rights, which I allowed. That worked.Another point to pay attention to, if you use notepad to do the editing... When you go to save the file, it will default to saving as a .txt file. That is, it will take your file named "MediaConverter.SET" and try to save it as "MediaConverter.SET.txt". Make sure you either rename the file properly when you're done, or select the file type of *.* (as opposed to *.txt) when you save.Ok, hope that helps save someone else the frusteration.

My go gear vibe is wet

Immediately remove the battery and don't even think about turning it on until it's completely and thoroughly dry. Even then, it's still a good chance that it's dead.

My Go gear vibe 4gb MP3 battery is flat and won't recharge.

If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

Have a philips gogear vibe 4gb, locked up on one

I have the same unit. Was just using it and it locked up (I'm a computer guy) and I could not figure it out; no how/no way. Finally put on my 3X magnifiers and looked very closely at the device for a "Reset Button" and sure 'nuff, there's a reset button just below the on/off switch on the lower left hand side. Yayyy!. Best of luck to you!

How to put songs in this mp3 player

Use Windows Media Player (And download your user's manual while you're at it):
The instructions in these pages, which are largely links, pertain to Windows Media Player 10 and 11 only.

Windows Media Player is made by Microsoft. The general help page for Windows Media Player is:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.mspx

Through this link, you can enter a variety of search terms that will help you find what you are looking for (exs.: “add files to my mp3 player”; “delete files from my mp3 player,” etc.)

Important Vocabulary:

The code word for “mp3 player” in Windows Media Player is “DEVICE” or “portable device”

The code word for adding files is “SYNC,” “syncing,” or “synchronizing”

The code word for copying files from CD is “RIP,” or “ripping”

The code word for files stored on both My Computer and my Mp3 player (when it is connected to the computer) is “LIBRARY”

To add files (SYNC) to your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/windowsmediaplayer/wmp10/harrison_wmp10.mspx

To delete files from your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/mediaadvice/0085.mspx#EDF

To delete files from your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

My Directions:

1. Connect your mp3 player to the computer

2. Open Windows Media Player

3. Click on the icon of your Mp3 player on the left-hand side of the Library

4. Click on the Songs, Tracks, or other Music Folder

5. Find a song or songs that you want to delete

6. Left-click the song once to highlight it

7. Press the “Delete” button on your computer’s keyboard

To copy (RIP) files from CD to Mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:
