I need to update my os x 10.4.11 to 10.5 were can i download 10.5
Sorry, you can't download it from Apple. They don't offer their older versions of the OS on line. If you check eBay, you will often find people selling older discs of the OS. Or perhaps you can network with your friends to find someone with a copy 10.5. Apple did produce 10.5 on a Disc. The name for that version was Leopard.
I just rummaged through my old software. I have a copy.

Try switching off the machine and unplugging. Leave for 5 minutes, then plug back in and switch on, once you hear the first chime from the computer, hold down the alt+cmd+P+R keys (PRAM). Until you hear the second chimes, then let go the keys. If this doesn't work I suggest the same procedure with the switch off etc...but this time when switching back on immediately hold down the 'C' key (don't wait for chime) and start in safe mode. Once you are there reinstall the Operating System from the disk. Alternatively, if you can get to the disk utilities runs a check on the hard drive and hit "repair'.

Oh dear, that's a huge problem.
I'm not sure there is a cure for that one I'm sorry, that's why there is a warning before you set it to NEVER forget it as it can never be recovered.

By task bar, I am unsure if you mean the upper menu bar, or the Dock.
The Dock can be placed on any of the four walls of the screen. Approach each edge with the mouse and see if a Dock appears. If not, go to the Apple menu / System Preferences / Dock, and turn hiding off.
If, on the other hand, you have no upper menu bar, you have some sort of unusual system corruption, and may want to think about reloading the system.
There are two alternate ways to boot from a CD/DVD. One is to hold down the option key at boot, and choose the CD icon when it appears. Another is to hold down the four keys delete, option, command, and shift at boot—this is a much older sequence and less useful, but occasionally works when nothing else will.

Try restting pram or nvram is also called.
hold down apple key, option key and the letters p and r and then push power button. These four keys must be pressed and held down continuously before the first chime and until you hear the third chime.
if that does not work, try going to google and doing a search for apple key commands in apple support. I think holding down the option key before pushing power button on a machine that is powered off will take you to the drive select menu. where you can choose the drive you want to start form.
YOu can also try installing system disk and hold down c key. Go into disk utilities and run all four choices.
