Problems with Polaroid TLA-01511C 15 in. LCD Television

It needs a video board replaced most likely. You can find by searching on google for your model. Might cost more than set is worth. Think about new model as they are really cheap in that small size.

Polaroid TLA-01511C stopped working after electrical storm. Will try to change fuse, if I can get to it. How do I access the fuse? NOT equipped mentally or with tools to do more.

Contact any service technician. The fuse can be located at itw main power regulator board inside. If the power supply regulator board is found faulty, it will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and precious time. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here.Surf the site with patience.Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Low volume

If it's a new TV, then it might just be as high as it goes. A lot of HDTVs don't come with great speakers due to the small flat feature of the TV not allowing anything better. You will have to get external speakers for the TV to experience better sound. Here is a great sound bar that is well priced. http://www.amazon.com/Vizio-VSB205-32-Inch-Theater-Soundbar/dp/B004VGI2EK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1359416740&sr=8-2&keywords=32+inch+sound+barI've personally heard that sound bar and they are surprisingly loud and hardly take up any room at all.

Screen is white when you turn it on but you can

On older tube televisions this was referred to as the "warm in period". You don't get that on newer LCD as there is no tube to warm. SO, what you've got here is a growing problem with your LCD inverter board or your backlights. Both can be repaired rather easily (and cheaply) at most television repair shops. I've seen a lot of this on polaroid sets, and it almost always gets much worse very quickly. Eventually the TV will refuse to turn on. My recommendation is to get to the repair shop right away!

Picture comes on then goes

Hi,
Power on the unit in the dark room then shine with the flashlight directly in the screen, you will barely see the images. This is because your backlight is not functioning. The following reason was the caused.
1. Power supply - missing B+(supply voltage) coming from this board feeding the inverter board. The B+ produced an out-of-regulation condition and drives it to overload which caused the symptoms. Look for leaky/dried electrolytic capacitor, sometimes it has a bulged/dome at the top but not all, you must have a capacitor checker to determine its condition.
2. Inverter board - even the B+ is good from the power supply, if the fuse, driver transistor, driver transformer is faulty no output to the backlight resulting to black picture.
3. Busted backlight - even inverter board is good but one of the backlights was already busted, it will trigger the protection circuit and will shuts-off the B+ to avoid overload to high voltage transformer.
Diagnosing the fault may technical if you're not handy with electronics. If you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't troubleshoot the symptoms yourself, I would advice you to look for an experienced technician to isolate the problem.

Also, check if your unit is under warranty period, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free. Don't attempt to open the back cover(it will void the warranty).
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

Im trying to find an input for dish network on the

The input depends on the type of cable you use, if you use an HDMI you will want to set the TV to an HDMI input. If you're using components set the TV to component or y/pb/pr to change the input press the input button multiple times this should cycle the inputs for you. If you're using coaxial cables try channels 3,4,60,62,73,75 Hope this helps!

I get picture for about five minutes and then the

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

I have a tip/tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. It's called: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and Good luck.
