Hard drive

Hi,
You can install a software called partition magic and use it to merge the two partitions into one.
But you might need to free some space on your C drive. What you can do is copy (CUT) all your My Documents data and paste it to your D drive or your second drive. This should free a lot of space enough to install partition magic.

You can download the trial version software from http://www.soft32.com/download_151.html
Install it and merge your partitions and then you can uninstall or purchase if you want.

How to install seagate hdd

I see you are trying to use a IDE HDD in a system that is meant to use a SATA HDD. If you have a desktop version of the Gx530 (not the small form factor) then you can still use the IDE. You will just have to put it on the ribbon wire as the CD/DVD drive. You will then need to have a power wire splitter to share the power for the DVD as the SATA power wire will not work on the IDE drive.

This only works on the desktop (larger) models, if you have the SFF or the USFF then it will not work as they dont have the IDE ribbon.

Hope this helps.

I have seagate 80GB hard drive it produce a noice

You drive is worth say $15, if working. There are services to disassemble and install platters in a working drive but we are talking $1000 and up. Some have said sealing it in a bag (for moisture protection), placing in a freezer and you get one chance to play it back. I don't know and would not bet on it. As I told you--although I didn't--you should back up on more than one drive. Best of luck. -Ken

I have a st380020A and it is not running, I lost a

when you say its not running you mean there is no spinning
sound of the platters ? or the unit doesn't work by way of not
being recognized by the computer ? , if the platters are not
spinning the unit's drive motor is burned out , if the unit is
not being recognized by the computer means the platters
are not spinning up to the required RPM , you have 2 choices
1. you can obtain an exact match HDD or to make sure you are
within close proximity to the last 4 digits of the serial number
to harvest workable components to transfer to the broken HDD
to retrieve your Data , or 2. send your HDD to an authorized
specialist in Data recovery , there are many listed online to
choose from .

I have an hdd that every computer detects it but when it runs to

Do you need the information on it? Connect it as a slave drive, then you could run the following command

Start >> Run >> chkdsk e: /r where <e:> is the drive letter.

If that doesn't work, you could format the drive in windows explorer, however you will lose all data.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 300 Gb - power problem

it really all depends on how far the damage is. I have swapped the controller board on a hard drive that had failed with one from an identical drive and was able to retrive the data. This is not a very common thing that works. Your data is most likly still entact on the platters. However, if the motor is damaged it would require expert and very expensive help to recover the data.

If you have access to being able to swap controllers then try it. This may get your data back.

HDD

I've seen a simular problem where the disk is empty but it says there is a reduced volume remaining, In my case i ran check disk (started on restart) on the drive and it found a ton of files that were lost and restored them, so this regained the lost space. If that doesn't work, try right clicking on it in my computer and formating it.

Seagate SATA Baracuda 160 GB harddrive crashed

I've found this to just be the nature of hard drives. You never really can trust them, thats why you always need a backup. Maybe look into a fault tollerant RAID solution if it's really important (kinda expensive)
