My laptop display turns pink in color. It becomes

Two possibilities:
* malfunctioning video-adapter inside your computer;
* some of the "data" wires between the motherboard and the display are only working "intermittently".

If the latter, take the computer to a qualified technician, for disassembly and trouble-shooting and repair.

Why would my HP laptop screen go black?

A few reasons
1) backlight burnt out (or broken)
2) loose or broken cable AND backlight burnt out (or broken)
3) Failed GPU (probably integrated into the motherboard on that model)
4) failed motherboard (same issue above)

Check by plugging in an external monitor- if you get a signal, your LCD need a new backlight (or inverter, an easy fix under $15 USD)).

Cheapest solution is to simply replace the backlight, but you'll have to diassemble the entire laptop lid/cover AND the LCD to get to the backlight at the bottom. (this could be under $20 USD to do). Often similar sized LCD's with different part numbers will work fine in different laptops (meaning, a 14" LCD mady by samsung or LG will be compatible with almost any same 14" LCD made by either, especially if it comes WITH the inverter!)...

My skype does not work

Could you please let me know the problem? I can't assume myself. But the best solution is uninstall it and reinstall the program.
First of all, close the Skype if it's running somehow, go to Control panel, uninstall it, restart your computer and then reinstall it. That will definitely fix your problem. Since there's nothing we use to save for skype like contacts, chat session, etc.. we loose nothing in reinstalling.

If the problem persists, let me know with more details.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Bought HP Pavilion dv2910tx,not able to install Windows XP. Help

If the install cannot detect the hard disk then the hard disk is faulty and needs replacing or the disk controller is faulty.
You can check if the hard disk is faulty by :-
Go into the BIOS and check if there a hard disk diagnostic.
If not then remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port.
If this computer see it as an external hard drive and you can view the contents of the drive then it is OK and the fault is the disk controller on the laptop.
To setup XP.
You insert the Windows CD and boot up the laptop with the CD.
You have done this correctly to get the hard disk error message.
