Sylvania LC320SL8 Television - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

HDMI can be flaky and does not like things to be connected while units are powered up---tv or the unit being connected.If you hooked up with set on etc the set may not of "seen" this event and refuses to function. I know it sounds odd but I have seen this many times.

There are some defects in the board inside and should only be handled by a qualified service technician.

How many times do the power LED blinks at a time, before the set goes Off?

Buy one RCA RCR 311S model remote control. Sylvania is listed in tis codes. Codes are:
1003, 1004, 1014, 1046, 1051, 1060, 1061, 1062, 1066, 1067, 1072, 1073, 1074, 1075, 1076, 1077, 1078, 1082, 1150, 1151, 1165, 1192, 1199, 1206
If you select rCA RCR 312W remote control, the codes will be of five digits one and are:
11864, 10054, 10030, 10171, 10096, 11271, 11314, 11394, 11963
You will get its catelogue along with it, which will have all details about other devices codes and the way how to synchoronise the codes with the tVs. OK

You need to check the output voltages of the power supply to see which one goes off. It may be due to short circuits some where.if otherwise, power supply board is dead, do you know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors.These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable,and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

choose an input on the back of your tv set thats not being used ie input 1 or input 2 plug the cables in as to match the colors .yellow /white /red then depending on what input you choose press the input on the tv and your off and running

This problems is the Tuner board is dead.That the board,where the broscating in comming signal cable plug into it.Take ur tv aparts.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish Tuner board for the replacement.

Yes. There are two glass type fuses in your set, one for the power supply, and the other is for the main board. Your best bet would be to try to replace the fuses, and see what happens. Good Luck.

the smps needs repair.the primary circuit is shorted.stop the game with the fuses and contact the service! dont mess with the board of the smps. the voltage there is at least 200v dc and the current is strong enough to kill somebody!

This is a commaon problem. It seems that your unit has some sort of PSU fault, or a problem that is shutting down the Power Supply Unit, PSU. This happens so that no further damage, and possible fire will occur.
You need to take the unit to a reputable service centre/man and ask for a firm "Quote" for the work to be done.

Hello Flagzz. In your post you say you tried the code, I have found 3 codes. Not sure if it only gave you 1 code or if its just a mistype. If they only gave you one code here are the three listed for sylvania for the comcast remotes(any with the all power function).
0054,0030,0171

Also if that doesn't work, here are instructions to run the remote through all the codes:


If your home entertainment device does not respond to the remote control after trying all of the codes listed for your brand, or if your brand is not listed at all, try searching for your code.
Example: You've tried all the codes for your TV, but you still cannot get the remote control to operate your TV.

1. Turn on your TV.
2. On the remote control, press TV once.
3. Then press and hold SETUP until the TV key blinks twice, then release the SETUP key.
4. Using the number pad, enter 9-9-1. The TV key will blink twice.
5. Aim the remote control at the TV and slowly alternate between pressing Power and TV. Stop when the TV turns off after pressing the POWER key. This means that a working code has been found.
6. Press the SETUP key once to lock in the code. The TV key will blink twice.

Note: Use the AUX key to program the remote for an audio receiver or DVD player.




Make sure to do this slowly as if you aciidently pass it, you have to start over.

We bought a Sylvania LC420ss8 HDTV.

Our current universal remotes would not work, I followed the advice on this site and got a Sony
RM- VL600 Sony Untergrated Remote Commander, use page 16 in the manual to teach the new remote off of the remote that came with the TV. It really works. I am happy with the tv and remote.

I just figured it out last night - if you have used your playstation on an hd tv previously, it is set at the highest resolution possible - 1080p. You need to take it back to that tv, and go to display settings on your tv. If you select HDMI as they type of connection you'd like to make, it asks you what resolution your tv supports. In your tv instruction guide, it should give you this information. Check mark all of the resolutions your tv supports, making sure not to confuse 1080i and 1080p. After doing this you can take it back to your other television and it should work.
