3Com NBX® V3000 (3C10600BUS) - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
All ports busy
When there isn't an available line, you will get an "all ports busy" on the display of the phone. This can mean a few things. It can mean that your line cards (analog or digital) are not being seen by the NCP (Network Call Processor), all lines are busy or your T1/PRI circuit is down. If the cards are "Unknown" you can reboot the system (through the browser) and try again after about 5 minutes. The line cards are hot swappable and can be loosened, pulled out an inch or so and then pushed back in. Do not try this with the Call Processor though! It is NOT hot swappable!
Some 3Com NBX telephone 3102's can access paging but has no audible
If the system is in "IP on the Fly" mode you will need to add IP's to the IP pool on the system. If you aren't using any remote phones you can put the system in "Ethernet only" mode and you won't need to worry about the additional IP's. Also, ihave seen problems where you need to make sure that IGMP snooping is enable on the switches for paging to work.
My home ATT Uverse phone
This is an AT&T problem. Good luck getting them to change the DTMF settings on your U-Verse box!
I am trying to figure
Go to User Config, Users. Click the user extension number and type in the new extension.
My NBX V3000 suddenlny is frozen.
Are you trying to forward calls in circular from 1 extension to the next. Like 101 to 102 back to 101. If not I would purge the database and start over. Export user data so you can see the Mac address of each phone and it will be easy to reconfigure the extensions. Do not import the Data. Start from scratch.
We had a power outage
After you power it up LEAVE IT ALONE for at least 45 minutes. When the NBX loses power abruptly it will do a disk scan upon reboot. The disk scan takes anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes (depnding on the size of the database). You can connect to the console and see it doing a disk scan when you boot it back up. It will go through 6 phases and then boot up normally. Each time you pull the plug you risk database corruption (or hard drive failure on an older system).
3COM NBX V3000 Ghost Ringing
This sounds like you have a phantom user as a member of your incoming hunt group. Meaning you have a user extesion without a phone associated to it (just a mailbox). Check your hunt groups and make sure there aren't any phantom users in them. If so, remove them and this will stop happening.
Hi I have a 3Com NBX V3000 and i forgot the password what I can d
You must make sure to use the correct username. The only username that can be used for administrator is administrator (ALL LOWER CASE). It is case sensative and can not be capitalized. You typically have to open a case with 3Com to get the current password. There is no "backdoor" way to gain access or change the password but if you have console access to the system you can enter the nbxDb command and get an encrypted password. If the system is running a software version 4.0 and older then the password is unencrypted and you are done. I can get the encrypted password decrypted if needed.
Nbx V3000 will not allow me to change extension
If the extension is already in use on the system you wont be able to assign it to another phone. You can change the conflicting Ext. to something else (not in use) and then use the one you wanted. There are also specific ext. ranges that you have to abide by.
We have a 3Com NBX V3000. The building our office
This was a rather simple fix. When I was speaking about the NBX V3000, I was talking about our 2U NBX Chassis which holds the line card. When our phone system was installed I wasn't shown the 1U NBX V3000 "Brain". I thought everything was contained in the chassis. Long story, short, I restarted the 1U "Brain" and the system came back up with 5 minutes.
Remote Phones
I have only been able to get our phones to work when there is a VPN connection between the two locations.

HARDDRIVE FAILED
Get a new V3000 hard drive. They are cheap. That hard drive is corrupt.
