Linksys WUSB54GSC Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter w/ SpeedBooster [WUSB54GSC] (LS-SB54GSC) Questions & Answers
I installed the compact wireless
My experience is limited with such things.
Connecting the computer to the router with a cable I found was an instant success with three different routers and two different service providers (and several computers).
I fitted a couple of generic wireless adaptors also without incident. Each wireless adaptor arrived with a mini disc and instructions to load the drivers before plugging in the usb adaptor and ten minutes larter I was looking at a list of available wireless networks and being asked to choose one and the enter the password that is written on the underside of the router.
Once I used the Windows wizard to set up a wireless network and similarly had no trouble. I don't think it is necessary to configure the computer to a particular modem and I have not heard others speak of such a thing. Apart from needing the driver for the usb wireless adaptor there it all should happen automatically
Once the driver is installed and the adaptor plugged in, it should be obvious whether it is working because it should detect nearby wireless networks - but it won't connect with any of them unless you click on a particular one. It will only be possible to connect to open wireless or the one or ones you have the password for.
Once the computer is connected it should get the IP address automatically and then connect to the internet..
I have a sneaking suspicion you are thinking too deeply about this. The internet these days is almost foolproof - it has to be for me to get it to work.
Perhaps your operating system is seriously corrupted...

Where do I find the pass phrase
The passphrase is stored in your router. You will need the passcode to connect to your router. Usually the passcode is located on a sticker in the back of your router on a sticker. If not, you will need to log into your router to retrieve it.

HOW CAN I MAKE IT WORK
Plug into computer, look in Device manager, find the attachment, it may show as unknown, open up properties and find driver update and press that to see if you can get a updated driver thru that. If not you then need to go on line and search for a driver whilst it is plugged in. good luck.

I need a driver for
Linksys website has all the drivers www.linksys.com and check support! It will ask for information about your network adapter and lead you to firmware, drivers and information. That is the best source!
