Lens error restart camera

  • 1. Begin by turning the power on and off 4 times. If this does not work, remove the battery with the power still on, wait about 15 seconds and replace the battery. Once you have installed the battery, turn the power on. You can plug the audio/visual cable into the camera preventing the LCD screen from powering up. This will allow for more power to be directed to extending or retracting the lens.
  • 2. Try using compressed air to clean around the lens barrel area, this may dislodge the debris that is preventing the lens from extending or retracting.
  • 3. Gently tap on the bottom of the camera while holding the camera with the lens facing the ground. Try using the palm of your hand or the rubber pad on the USB compartment. You want to dislodge any dirt or debris that is lodged within the camera.
  • 4. With the power OFF, place the camera flat on the table with the lens facing the ceiling. While holding the shutter button down turn on the power, this will cause the lens to auto focus hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins.
NOTE: The next step is the most forceful procedure, therefore use extreme caution when performing. Remember, if a click is heard during this step then stop and check to see if the lens error has been resolved. Clicking sounds may indicate that the lens barrel guide pins have reset.
  • 5. While turning the power on GENTLY twist, pull or push the barrel while the lens is extending or retracting. You want the barrel to move in or out evenly. The idea behind this step is to overcome the friction that is caused by misalignments or dirt within the barrel.

How do I set the resolution on my Canon SD850?

The instructions for changing the resolution are on page 30 of the manual. If the pictures are fuzzy, increasing the resolution won't help. The most likely causes of fuzzy pictures are as follows1) Focus. Check to make sure the focus is on the subject. If something else in the picture is sharp while others are not, then the camera may have focused on the wrong subject.2) Subject motion. If moving objects are fuzzier than stationary objects then you need to use a faster shutter speed (or flash).3) Camera motion. Just because the camera is on a tripod doesn't mean it doesn't move. One philosophy says that if a tripod is light enough to be carried then it's not sturdy enough. For a compact camera like the SD850 that likely isn't the problem. However, you can still shake the camera when you press the shutter release button. Try setting the self-timer. This allows time for the vibrations to die down before snapping the picture. In your particular case, I think we can assume that the subject isn't moving, so #2 doesn't apply. To assure proper focus, make sure the painting is flat and perpendicular to the lens axis. If the painting is tilted relative to the camera, then different parts of it will be at different distances and the camera won't be able to keep all of it in focus. Also, make sure the front of the lens is clean.

I have a canon power shot SD850 camera and when i

Are you certain that it's not saying instead "lens error, restart camera"? If it is, lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them.

Why are you even concerned? Pros always use card readers instead of their cameras for downloading pics.

Hello, I have a Canon

If the camera is not recognized correctly in a Windows 7 environment due to some unknown causes, follow the procedures below to delete the camera's device driver, and then reinstall it.
1.Connect the [DIGITAL Terminal] to the PC's USB terminal by using the [Interface Cable] that came with your camera 2. Press the button on the camera. 3.Click [Start], right-click [Computer], click [Properties], and then click [Device Manager]. >Double-click [Portable Devices] >Select the model name of your camera, or select [Canon Camera], and then click the [Uninstall] button in the upper section of the screen.>Click ok. 4.Click the [Scan for hardware changes] button.>A new device driver is now installed.
Do you have an external hub to expand the USB ports? Have you tried a different port? If your computer has USB ports on the front you are using try one of the ports in the back.

I receive a "communication error"

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Canon ZoomBrowser or any other photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Drop GE A1230 digital camera in water. Let dry and now wont power

Unfortunately, there are several parts that may be damaged with water. It doesn't matter if it's already dry. Water contains lots of minerals and other material that are conductive. Once the water evaporated, the conductive materials stays in the electronics.

As you have a broken camera anyway, you can try:

* Using a hair dryer, blow some hot air (no the hottest level) inside the camera. protect display away from the heat.

* Get a new camera to replace the damaged one.

Sorry Ricky, I don't think it can be fixed.

Camera fallen with extended lens position. Lens

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair centre for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

Regards
Andrea
