Hello the fault is most likely to be the defrost system building up frost around the fan and causing the bad sound to prove this just turn off freezer for about 10 hours to defrost and restart if noise has gone away then your defrost system is faulty

With the cap off the filer was not turned far enough for it to clear the locks. Grab the filter with a pair of pliers and turn it to the unlock position then pull it out.

there is two seperate water valves first insure that water lines coming and going to tank are not frozen..if not replace inlet valve on back of fridge

Removing and replacing a water filter - base grill location

Filters situated in the base grill (below the freezer compartment) of Whirlpool-built side-by-side refrigerators are relatively simple to replace. Follow these two steps:

1. Grasp the filter's end and make a one-quarter turn to the left.
2. Pull the filter straight out.

To replace with a new filter, repeat these two steps in the opposite order, making sure to first remove the red cap from the filter. Proceed by pushing the filter straight into the slot, and then giving it a one quarter turn to the right.
Note: Replacing this type of filter is quick - there is no need to unplug your refrigerator when replacing it. Also, this filter should be replaced every six months.

look behinnd ur refrigerator u will see a blue solenoid valve with e wires on it take the wire off of it and put ur meter leads in the wires and see if u r getting any power to the wires leave the m,eter leads in and try rotating the ice arm around by hand and see if u get any power as u do this if u do then put the wires back on and see if u can feel the solenoid open up when u rotate it if it opens and water starts coming out then u may have had the arm on the ice maker stuck now that uve got it unstuck it may work ok now but if u never get any power to the solenoid then u probably need to replace the ice maker hope this helps

Filter on the bottom? Turn it CCW a quarter turn and pull it out. The cap slides off and attaches to the new filter.

I have had a few where the water switch housing that holds the switch breaks and does not allow the arm to hit the switch to turn water on. that is one thing it could be ethier way not to big of an expence to get fixed

Get a charcoal filter from home depot (about 50.00) and install behind refrig or in cabinet . Filter has replaceable cartridges like for charcoal , lime , calcium . Installs in supply line to refridg . Do not recommend the 11.00 filter installed in line , where you replace the whole filter . Get the replaceable cartridge type .

filter its on the kick plate @ the bottom of the freezer door,push the side button and the filter unlocks

yea that is common just switch the wires and then try to get water out the door.. no biggie you wont hurt nothing... the water just wont come out the same place...
