167 bios

To troubleshoot processor issues, follow these steps and test the processor after performing each one:

Notes:
  • If either the system board or processor have been replaced, reflash the BIOS to the latest level before proceeding.

  • Some computers allow the fan to stop spinning. This is not a malfunction. The fan should start spinning as the system heats up.
  1. Ensure the latest BIOS code is installed. This will correct any 167 POST errors for the Intel microcode update and "176 No Processor CPUID" post errors.

  2. Reseat the processor and the heat sink

Note: Do not touch either the processor or system board contacting surfaces. These can be extremely fragile and bent pin damage due to touching is not covered under warranty.

  3. Verify the processor fan operation is not blocked by cables or other hardware.

  4. Verify that any replacement processor is the correct architecture for the system.

RESPECTED SIR, SIR MERE PASS IBM

As I understand it, you tried to upgrade the CPU from 1.86GHz to a 3.00GHz. The error message is stating that the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) cannot recognise the CPU because it is not in the list of supported CPUs. You need to download an updated BIOS (if available) for the particular motherboard in your PC. You will need to get the model number of the motherboard which is usually written on the motherboard. Then go to this web site: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/homeLenovo.do

Search for an updated bios for your motherboard. There should be instructions on how to update the bios.

Hello, i have an IBM

The IBM beep code indicates no power, loose card, or short. Was the computer unplugged when you removed the module? The first thing I would do is remove all modules, blow out any dust in the memory slots, and reinsert all. While you are in there insure any cards, sound, video, are firmly seated.

I formatted the machine and

Unofrtunately you didn't specify the model so i'm unsure which drivers you will need, however I can still help you.

  • Follow this link to Lenovo Support
  • Select the model that you are currently having issues with
  • Scroll down and you will see a list of drivers for BIOS, Audio etc. You will see one for networking
  • Click on the link which relates to your networking adapter, this will take you to the download screen
  • Follow the instructions given on that page and you should be done

External cd rom not detecting

Btter check first if the port is grounded, if not check if the port is active or not, if it has the latest driver. If none of this works, have a shorter cable for your external device, this may be the problem.

Thank you and have a great day.

End of the POST "Error

After a month you have probably found a solution. The Power On Self Test is looking for a Basic In Out System update. There is likely hardware on the machine that the system cannot recognize. The bios firmware update can usually be found at the chipset manufacturer's website or at a computer store that sells the NetVista machines. It comes on a CD that installs as a boot disk. Hope this info is still relevant.
