I had the same problem, took it all apart, separated the two halves, and looked into the guts of the machine, not an easy task. Fiddled with this and that, and looked at the back of the switch mechanism, and heard it making a 'click' when depressed, so put it all back together, to no avail...It turns out the grinder needs to have two limit switches engaged, one between the lid of the ground coffee hopper and the underside of the grinder hopper housing, and the other between the grinder lid and the base of the unit. This last limit switch was my problem, it seems the lid wasn't making contact with the limit switch, so the unit didn't run. I cleaned out the narrow gap that the grinder lid sits within, pressed the lid down until I heard a small 'click' , pressed the on switch, and presto! it works. You can see this very tiny switch if you take off the grinder lid, and look in the narrow gap it sits in at a position of about three o'clock ( the back of the machine when viewed from the top being 12 o'clock. Hope this helps anyone else who can't find their receipt within the one year warranty period. This is the best burr grinder I've found for the money, and I'm glad mine's still o.k.

The tops of those grinders are made of hard plastic. Check the bottom of the lid for any broken or cracked pieces that could prevent it from engaging the grinder motor. If none are present, it's possible there are grounds stuck inside preventing the motor from turning on. Turn the unit upside down and shake it. You can also use a can of compressed air to blow out the hub. If this doesn't work, you may have a defective machine and you should return it to the store for replacement. Had the same problem.  Took out every screw I could find, and pried open the stainless steel shell (not easy) and eventually disassembled it to the point where could get at the broken switch. Cut the wires to the switch and tied them together with some black electrical tape effectively bypassing the safety switch, then put it back together. Tools I used were a screwdriver and a pair of pliers. Thing has worked for 2 years since.  It will run without the lid on, so dont stick your fingers in. 
Overall took me about 45 minutes, but well worth it instead of adding to landfill and spending more money.

I think this might be because no beans have gone down into the mill. There is a definite difference in sound when it is actually grinding beans. Try emptying the beans out, set it to the coarsest setting, put the beans back in, shake the thing a bit then turn it on.

Steam wand issues are usually caused by cooked milk solids inside the wand. You need a good enzyme cleaner like Rinza. There are three things it could be, the motor that drives the brewing unit, the brewing unit itself or the pressure relief valve. You need to operate while looking inside with a torch to see what is happening. This is done with the back, the top and the beans side side cover removed for visibility.

When you buy these machines, they don't tell you that they need dealer servicing every 6 to 12 months. You need a brew head service kit which involves replacing all the seals and O-rings. The heat and pressure makes the seals deteriorate and leak. Also, it is not using cleaning solution, you have pipe blockages. They are only about 1/8" internal diameter.

All of these automated coffee machines need regular maintenance. When was it professionally services by the dealer? My 6 machines in an airport environment needed service every 4 months. At home, probably every 12 months. Seals need replacing and moving parts cleaned and lubricated. In my opinion these machines are totally unsuited for home use. So many issues show up on this website and all makes, but Saeco are the worst..
