Water smells from my side by side

Hello Maria, this is JK. I understand that you recently purchased a pre-owned refrigerator. Changing out the filter and the tubing were a great start to clean water. If you have not already, I would encourage you to run 10-12 glasses of water to freshen the supply and rinse out the tank. If you find that this odor and taste still persist, you may want to have the water tank replaced. Hope this helps!

My refrigerator just won't run. We noticed that

Electrical: A 115 Volt, 60 Hz., AC only 15- or 20-
amp fused, grounded electrical supply is required.
It is recommended that a separate circuit serving
only your refrigerator be provided. Use an outlet
that cannot be turned off by a switch. Do not use
an extension cord

COOLING

Dust on the condenser coils can cause overheating, observe safety precautions then clean coils. Switch off the unit before you clean them. If the problem persists, test the compressor for overheating. Overheating will cause many problems with cooling ability. Leave the unit unplugged for 3 hours and plug it in again. If it starts working, the compressor is probably overheating (Observe cautions with food going bad). A simple cause of the problem might also be that there is not enough airflow Lack of airflow is the number one cause of compressor problems and thus an owner purchasing another unit for hundreds of dollars when you can fix it for free. There should be at least several inches distance between the sides and walls/cupboards/ceiling.

Electrical

There is an in-line fuse mounted in the line supplying the power to the ice-maker. It is in the wire clipped to the side, change out this fuse asap. It is actually a 20-amp fused, associated with the grounded electrical supply.

TIME TO CHANGE YOUR FILTER

While your on the back of the system, please check the filter. There is a filter in the back of the fridge in the upper right hand side. If you do not change it, it will slow down the frig and burn it out permanently.

FIGIDAIRE MODEL PLHS67EGS/ 2006 IS NOT COOLING OR

Hi!!
Check fan in the freezer to see if it is working, if it is, check if compressor and fan on the back bottom of unit are working and make sure condenser coil is clean, use a vacuum with the small brush adapter, be gentle, the coils bend easily.

If all the mentioned items are working fine, the evaporator coil is frozen and do not let cool air flow. This is not uncommon if you open the freezer door too long or too often, among other things. Gather a couple of towels and place one on the bottom of the freezer and the other one in front of it. Unplug unit from wall, transfer all items to the fridge section, remove freezer back panel, ({where fan is), and use a heat gun or hair dryer to defrost evaporator coil.making sure the air ducts to the fridge are clear. Plug unit back and set temp. as usual for both, the fridge and the freezer, wait 24 hrs to re-adjust. If you need a parts diagram of your unit, please provide an email address to send it to, this site only allows us to send 150k max images.

If it happens again, have the defrost timer and heating element checked.

Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.
