When my computer goes into sleep mode, I lose my

This is a feature of windows it's not a problem. Your settings can be changed in:

[Vista]
Control Panel>Mobile PC>Power Options
On the left side of the screen you will see "Change when the computer sleeps" click that, then click Advanced.
You will see the wireless power options in this panel.

If you need I can put some pics on my site to help walk you through it or if you have a different OS let me know XP is much the same.

Hope this helps...

3d reach card

If there is a wireless g or b network within range you should be able to connected to it provided the wireless network is either open or you have the WEP or WPA key. By "within range" we are basically talking about the same building.

Do you have an installation disk that came with it for the driver? Maybe not. It can be plug and play. Okay. Plug it to a USB port. Wait a few seconds to see if it is detected by Vista (you might have a small window down-right of your screen saying new material found). If so, the wizard will help you to install it and to configure it. Otherwise, let me know at what step you are stopped.

Thanks.

Can't get adapter to work

Hi,

Please, plug the network component to a USB port of your computer. Wait a few seconds to see if it detects it. If it does detect it, you will see in the Network section an icon for the wireless card. To make it easier to troubleshoot, here's a link to Microsoft website.

Installation for wireless g cards w/out CCD drives

I'm just taking a stab at this because you didn't mention which model of toughbook you have but if it is old enough that it does not have an ethernet port, I'm betting it has a dialup modem.

Check out this link and find a provider in your area. It will be very slow but it should allow you to connect to the linksys website to download the driver.

or maybe you know somebody and can borrow their account.

Getting WEP network encryption

When You click on show all characters you simply have to type in the pass phrase you selected when you set up your router. If you forgot what you used go back and reset your router and set up the wep again and use something you will not forget. I use my phone number. Hope this helps get you up and running. If you need more help just ask. [email protected] Send me your number and I will call you for free, I do this for a hobby so there will be no charge for my help. Let me know if you need me,
George
Ps. WEP encryption is not very secure, there is a program called netstumbler that can break in in less then 2 minutes. You might want to use the stronger encryption if you want to keep people off your bandwidth!
