HP Scanjet G4050 Flatbed Scanner Questions & Answers
Cleaning your inside scanner glass
Actually it's a very simple procedure!
Read this entire comment first...then start your procedures!
Disconnect the power cord, disconnect the USB cable, remove the top cover cable from the base by unscrewing the two plastic knobs, lift the top cover straight up. Place the top cover in a safe place.
On a clean, flat surface, turn the base upside down. On both ends you will find a total of four (4) black phillips head screws. Carefully unscrew these four screws and place aside. Carefully lift up the base and the top glass will separate from the base. Set the base aside. You have now exposed the inside glass for cleaning! It's that simple!!! Clean the glass by using a streak-free glass cleaner. Don't spray the glass, rather, lightly spray a clean soft lint free glass cleaning cloth, then wipe the glass. Don't press hard! Use good common sense1 There, you've now cleaned the interior glass. Reverse the procedure and you are finished. Wasn't that simple??
HP Scanjet G4050 - Can I clean under the glass?
Yes, but it is not a simple process.
Typically these are sealed and rarely need the bottom part of the glass cleaned. However seems I always get that rare few. :)
You must remove the mounting fasteners. Be careful and make note which positions the fasteners were removed. Each model has different locations. You may even have to pull up a label to reach a few of these. Hidden and tucked away not for the novice.
Try to remove ONLY the ones needed holding the glass in place.
Once you have the glass removed, use canned air or something to blow out the case. Clean glass and reverse the process.
Never EVER spray anything wet inside the case.
Be warned, it is very easy to S-t-r-i-p out a mounting point as you are working with plastic parts. Labels may not lay perfectly flat once you have pulled them up to remove a fastener. Little glue helps here for stubborn spots. Use light weight glues like Elmers.
You do not want the glue that holds like steel. You may have to dive in there again in the future. :)
Good luck!
HP imaging device could not
Does the lamp in the scanner come on at all? If not, then it is most likely bad. You can try disassembling the scanner and check that the lamp connectors are not loose.
After 6 months of good

Where is DPE? - When I tried to save a pdf-file (black/white), I was asked this question and my application folder opened automatically. I am using Mäc Leopard and hp g 4050 scanner. Who can help me solving this problem? I don't even know, what DPE means. Martin (Morogoro-TZ)
