Need a keybored
If you have a desktop computer system you can find keyboards at nearly every retail store. Any keyboard will work on any computer. (Well, this may not be 100% true. If your computer only has USB ports and no PS/2 style connectors - true for a few systems - you'll need a USB keyboard. Otherwise you can plug in anything.) There's no need to stay with the exact same keyboard that was supplied with your system, unless it had special-function keys like volume control or Web access. Even then you can buy keyboards with special keys, and they will come with the software you'll need to make them work.
With laptops it's a little more difficult since the keyboard needs to be an exact replacement, otherwise it won't fit the case and the connection to the motherboard won't be right. But there are many sources now, and for popular brands a lot of low-cost generic replacements are available. You don't always need to buy the original keyboard from the manufacturer. I find eBay to be a good place to look for keyboards (and other laptop components as well). I've found my last few keyboards, batteries and some display hinges from eBay sellers at good prices.
You haven't said what make and model computer you have so I can't be any more detailed. I hope you find this general information useful and that you get a new keyboard quickly. Thanks for using FIxya!

5. let the computer boot without the batt.
-6. turn it back off then reinsert the battery.
