Maytag performa washer
Hi Folks,
I'm guessing both of these problems are related to the belt slipping. There are several points to check.
- the belt tension. I'm not familiar with the exact details of your machines, but the usually have a an extra pulley with a spring attached to give the belt tension. Alternatively, the motor is mounted on a movable frame that is held by some springs. These springs give the belt tension. In either case check the freedom of movement of the tensioning arrangement and the springs are providing the necessary tension to the belt.
- Glazed belt/pulley - if the belt has been slipping it will polish the pulleys and this will reduce the friction necessary to drive the machine. To fix this the belt should be replaced and the pulley surfaces roughed up with some wet/dry emery paper (not too rough or it will wear your new belt out).
- Belt is too old - the rubber becomes hard and brittle and ends up with the same effect as Glazed belt/pulley above. The fix is as per 2 above.
Good luck

NAV5800a top loader washer
The inside of your agitator became worn, and possible strip out the spline that allows the agitator to properly grip the shaft. The loud noise mustly occurs during the spin cycle. If you hear this loud noise your load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it.

If your washer fills but the timer cycle doesn't advance-replace the timer. If your washer fills the time cycle advance, and still not agitating your agitator is at fault.
Washer belt
To replace the belt on your Amana washer, pull the unit forward then tilt the top of it back to about a 45 degree angle. Once you get the right angle, the unit will rest against the wall behind it instead of falling forward. Take your new belt (availble through local appliance parts stores or on line from the manufactures web site) and first put it in the track around the large pulley, then the track on the smaller pulley on the right. Lastly, the pulley on your left should be moveable. Move the final pulley so that you can get the belt over it. It will then move back to a tensioning position.
Waher maytag
Pull your washer forward then tilt the top backwards until it sits at about a 45 degree angle. There should be a belt and 3 pulleys underneath. Remove the belt (one of the pulleys will move to allow slack) Ignore the moving pulley and the large pulley in the center. The third pulley is your pump. Try to turn it by hand, it should move freely. Presumably, it wont and will need to be replaced.
Leaking/ loud
Well the tub seal actually has the bearings inside of it. You can purchase one as a seal kit. However, replacing one requires specialty tools. I do not have the part numbers, but I do have a solution. Go to a local appliance parts store with your model and serial number (these should be located on the top rear side of the console) Tell them you need a seal kit for that model / serial number. When they bring it up, there are step by step instructions of how to replace your bearing seal inside the parts box. On the instruction sheet on the first page, it tells you what tools you'll need to do the job including the specialty tools and thier manufactures parts numbers so you can purchase them there or have them ordered.
Water leaks from main seal
Up front, this project requires specialty tools made by the manufature to remove the seals. You can check with your local parts store or the manufactures web site to purchase them. To remove the outer drum, you have to take the 2 panels off the front and remove the screws underneath that are holding the top of the unit. Lift the top up and lean it back. Next you have to remove the tub ring (the white plastic peice on top of the tub and basket) Next you remove the agitator. Underneath the agitator, there are bolts that hold your inner basket in. Remove these and pull out the basket. Next you have to use specialty Amanna/ Maytag tools to remove the seals that are sitting on top of the center shaft (transmission). Next remove all hoses going to the tub ( some will still have water in them) Lastly there are bolts all of the way around the base of the washer that hold the tub in place.
Cold water dripping from input
It (unlikely) could be a forign voltage causing your problem. Just unplug the machine and verify the problem continues. Assuming that it does, you likely have debris inside your inlet valve. Since it not servicable, it would need to be replaced. To do this, unplug the unit. Using a putty knife or small flat blad screw driver, push on the 2 clips where the top of the washer meet the front panel while lifting the top. (a flash light will help you see these) The valve is usually held on be 1/4 or 5/16 screws. A replacement valve can be purchased from a local appliance parts store or on line from the manufacture.
Loud and leaky
Tub bearing replacement on ANY Amana (Maytag) can be difficult. Even for
experienced technicians, it can take 1 to 2 hours as long as there are
no surprises (corrosion, stubborn bolt etc). Also, all Maytag washers
require specialized tools for removing certain components of the
machine.
Washer continues to spin slow in the last spin cycle.
Red Ryder, the motor is 1 speed on this model. A couple of things to check; one would be the belt. Look for shavings, cracks or if it's shiney, could be worn. If your p number is p1118410ww, looks like you have 2 belts, agitate and spin and pump. Pump-R0606507, spin-R0606539. Check the pulley, make sure it is not binding, lube it up, and check the pump, something might be binding there. As long as you don't have a grinding, howling noise during spin the bearing should be good. Catriver..post back.
Amana top load
it is a big job i would take it to a repair man you need spacial tools to fix it sorry
Loud increasing "ticks" during spin cycle
take the two screws out of the front bottom panel and fill the machine up with water then get a flashlight and turn to spin and if you look at the top of the transmission behind the motor watch for any water flying out it there is that is the cause of the problem if not you have a bad motor
Amana NAV5800 - How do I take off the lid/cover
Jon,
There should be two screws at the bottom of the front panel. Undo these screws and the bottom of the panel should swing out. The top will be held by clips or pins that will release as the bottom of the panel moves out. I suggest you lay a folded towel on the floor to prevent chipping the enamel finish when the panel drops free.
By the way, please ensure the machine is unplugged before you attempt any work on electric appliances.
Good luck

Amana washer. Why is it acting up?
Question edited for clarity, 'Amanda' to 'Amana'.
Question moved to maker category.
It is sensing, and that you have something that needs a 'Delicate' setting, or a 'Woollens' setting. It provides water and very little agitation that might damage or stretch the clothes. Read the manual.

I have an Amana Tandem 7300 Front Load Washing Machine.
Fiona, could it be that your'e using Liquid color-safe bleach as it is thicker than chlorine bleach and will not dispense properly from the chlorine bleach dispenser?
And did you Remove the inserts from the drawer. The inserts are the detergent selector and covers of the softener and bleach dispenser.. and clean and replace them?
Tis really hard not being there and being able to see the unit.
But thought I'd give you these suggestions.
Best to you.
