How to replace oven temperature probe

Should be able to remove a cover on back, disconnect 2 wires, possible a screw mount inside oven, remove probe and replace in reverse. Are you sure probe is bad ? After you get it out, put an ohm meter across contact points and run hot, then cold water over probe. The resistance (ohm readings ) should change.

F10 fault on tappan range

The F10 indicates that the electronic oven control board senses a runaway temperature condition in the oven through the oven sensor circuit.
This can be caused by a faulty oven temperature sensor probe or a failed electronic control board.
Oven temperature is detected by the control board as it monitors the resistance through the oven temperature sensor circuit.
You could have a failed oven temperature sensor, a wiring harness failure, an open thermal switch or a failed electronic oven control board that would cause this problem.
The first component to check would normally be the oven temperature sensor probe.
If you have a volt/ohm meter, you can shut off the breaker for the range and remove the screws that mount this sensor to the back wall of the oven.
Carefully pull the wire harness into the oven cavity until you get to the wire harness disconnect plug.
You should have enough slack to pull it this far into the oven.
Disconnect the sensor but do not let the wire harness retract back through the back wall of the oven or it will be hard to reconnect.
Measure the resistance of the oven temperature sensor with your volt/ohm meter. At room temperature, the resistance should measure around 1100 ohms.
The resistance chart is shown in the image below.

If the resistance is above 2200 ohms at room temperature, then the sensor probe is causing the F10 error code and will need to be replaced.

You can order a new sensor probe from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for the sensor is 316217002.

If the resistance is normal, then one of the other causes mentioned above is producing your F10 code.
You would need to access the electronic oven control board (Timer) in the console and check the resistance at the sensor circuit connection to the control board as the next step in troubleshooting this problem.

I was baking and steam

Steam is a natural product of baking but the heat from an oven rising directly to the control knobs on any cooker is unacceptable. Those knobs are not decorative mouldings to make the appliance look pretty, they are a means of controlling the gas valves! I suggest you check that your appliance is standing square upright and level. If it is then I think perhaps you might replace the oven door seal.

Error code f11

I do not know what the error code f11 means on your appliance but I do know that if you cannot find it in your manual you will obtain the information you require from the manufacturer or a reputable dealer or service engineer. If this error code relates to an open door and you are satisfied the door is properly closed then the switch that closes the circuit that permits your oven to operate is not operating. This may be due to the oven door seal stiffness being just enough to keep the switch contacts apart or it may be due to dirt or grease preventing a clean electrical contact being made.

Tappan oven will not get hot

Assuming there is power to your appliance and the oven control is operating correctly, likely causes are a failure of the thermostat or heating element, both of these are easily checkable with a circuit tester or multimeter, and both are easily replaced. If there is some age to the appliance you may also want to inspect the wiring connections. Cooking appliances are very simple animals, they mostly fail through poor hygiene, poor maintenance, or corrosion caused by the products of combustion.
