5. If ur isp is a dsl normaly they give u a username and password to connect to the internet, ur settings on the router should be PPPoe

3. type cmd
4. it will show a dos prompt
5. from the dos prompt type ipconfig/all
6. it will list the ip address, subnet, default gateway, dns server
this settings should be type in to the settings on the router for static ip addressing..
7. Once your done on the internet setting, go to your wireless connection settings and you can create a wireless network name or ssid, set a security by selecting wep, wpa, wpa2.
8. once all is set. save the settings and to check if your laptop can access the wireless network that you did, turn on the wireless switch of your laptop, once its on, it will show the wireless network icon on the lower right of the taskbar, right click it and select on view available network, the network name that u did should list, just select it and connect and it will ask for the password, just type the password and connect, you should be connected to the wireless network and have internet access..
9. If you are going to hook up your desktop to the wireless connection, you need to install a wireless network adapter, install the driver and do the same thing as u did to the laptop, for the desktop no need of turning on the wireless switch, once you install the driver correctly, it will show a network icon..

Unable to access router address on

Hi g_c1,

If you haven't changed the default IP, then your trying the wrong IP #. The default IP for that Router is 192.168.200.254. See if that helps.

Also, you can always go to the Start and Click on Run, and at the line enter cmd. When you get to dos type in ipconfig /all this will give you a list of all IP assigned to that computer. The one that your looking for is called the Gateway. That line has your IP address of the router.

Good Luck

Sometime internet not working

Problem might be due to some electric surge or some electric appliances placed near the router as the problem goes away after a power cycle. Make sure that there is no high voltage current carrying wire placed near the router and place the router on some insulating material. If this also doesnot help, try upgrading the Firmware of the 3 com router and then check.

Wireless Computer Cant Connect to 3com router!

there's a few possibilities that might cause this problem.
First thing that comes to my mind is your wireless control access to the router's network.
In order to get through things here you need to get into the router's interface (http://192.168.2.1) using your password (default is admin), from their you need to get into wireless (b.t.w - I'm sorry if I'm not accurate here, I'm not in front of the router right now).
After getting into wireless you need to see if there's a control access tab in it (if not it might be in advances settings at the left main menu).

if it point to prevent... the problem is not about access control, otherwise you need to enter your MAC address in the table below, before putting any MAC address I will like you to tell me if it's on prevent or permit option.

Forgot security password

Save slight model differences between the different OfficeConnect routers, the procedure to do a factory reset is like this (from memory, for exact details you have to find a manual)
- power off the unit and remove all cables
- connect a normal (straight) network cable between the WAN port and either of the four LAN ports
- power on and wait until the status led is beginning to blink slowly, like 30 seconds
- then power off, reconnect everything and power on again

After this procedure you will have to input all settings from the very beginning, the default password is admin if I recollect correctly.

I am pretty sure what you have is an ethernet hub..not a wireless router. It would be used as a distribution site for a shared network. The BNC port is a connection for coaxial cable.

Ugrade 3com router 3CRWDR200A-75

The first thing I would check would be in the configuration (point your web browser to 192.168.1.1 when you have a wired connection) panel, under:
Wireless settings > configuration

If the 'Wireless mode' is set to 'SuperG', this may be your problem. The SuperG setting will only work with SuperG enabled wireless adapters. First change this setting to 'Mixed 11b/11g'; if it still doesn't work switch down to '11g' then to '11b'.

Do all your wireless testing with a laptop or PC as close to the router as possible - same room at the very least.

If all other settings are correct (double check them), this is the only thing I can think of that can instantly make a difference.

If you feel the firmware may be faiilty, note that although 3.0.1 is the 'newest' on the 3com website, even in their own knowledge base they refer to newer versions. These newer versions are available at:
http://3crwdr.googlepages.com/

You could try using one of these (at your own risk), if you feel it is the firmware itself that is causing the fault.
