Hi
It could be that your network card power management is set to switch off the network card after a set period. Its best disable the power management.
Click on the start button and look for control panel. Click on control panel and look for network connections. int there should be a local area connection right click on that and click on properties.
Look for the configure button and click on it. Next look for the power management tab and untick allow the computer to turn off this device.
That should do the trick.

I had to restore my computer to factory settings

How to restore after pc recovery

I recomend printing this before moving your computer into safe mode.

--""Before you complete the process""

Click START

Click MY Computer

Double click the main hard drive (C:)

Click DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS

--mouse over all the user in this folder, the one that shows empty, and once clicked on does not give you premission to open is the folder you want to use when completing the process. This should be the user (user name) you had before the restore, is may have a .PC(with numbers behind it)

--write down and remember this folder name

1. Shut down the computer.

2. Turn the power on, and when the blue HP or Compaq screen appears, press F8 to display the Windows Advanced Options Menu .

3.Use the arrow keys to move up to Safe Mode and press Enter .

4.Press Enter on Microsoft Windows Whistler Personal or Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition .

5.Click Administrator and, enter your password (if necessary) or press Enter .

6.A window will appear to prompt for confirmation to keep operating in Safe Mode .

7.Click Yes .

8.Click Start and My Computer . Then, double-click the main hard drive ( C: ) and Documents and Settings .

9.Right-click the folder name of the user account and click Properties . (This is the folder you found and wrote down before starting this process)

10.Click Security .

11.Click Advanced . On the Owner tab,(third tab over) click the checkbox to select the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects option.

12. Click Apply .

13.Click Yes to the security message.

14.Click OK .

15.Click OK again.(you should start to see the files being transferred that your trying to access)

--Restart your computer in normal operation.

--Login to your user name

--make a new folder on your desktop and name it "BINGO", open that folder and create a folder named "FOUND IT"

click START

click MY COMPUTER

Double click the main hard drive (C:)

click DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS

--from here go to any user that does not contain adminstrator, or all users in the file name

(if you don't find the folder your looking for exit out of that user and choose another until you find the Folder)

--once you open each user

click DESKTOP

--look through the desktop folder, your looking for the folder BINGO open that and you should see the folder FOUND IT, this is the user that you want to copy all your lost files from the old user to.

--Wirte down this user name

Exit back to the DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS folder

--- at this point you should see all the users folders again, however when you click on the user folder you used the process on (the first folder you have written down) that folder will now open.

--From here you need to move your files back from (the first folder you have written down) to your currently operating user name (the second folder you have wirtten down)

--you should see all of your desktop, my music, my pics, my movies, (in the first folder you have written down) however until you move these files from the old user to your current user the computer will not always find them in your basic progams(ie.--windows movie maker, media player, ext.)

--with some of the folders it may be easier to move them first to a desktop folder and then reorganise them from there.

This should work you will get your lost docs. back however you may still need to reinstall some progams that you lost. Moving your files back to your new user can be another interesting issue, however you should for now have all your lost info recovered. Feel free to e-mail me or post any questions or if you need more help.

Sud I turn off my p/c every night or just let it go to sleep

There is a lot of controversy over this issue, and it depends on how you use your PC. I use my PC for business, from 8-16 hrs a day. The best time to scan for viruses and perform other maintenance tasks is when I'm not using it, which happens to be while I'm sleeping. I set my PC go into hibernation, so it will 'wake up' at 3 a.m. and perform the full virus scan. There can also be problems with 'cold starts' on your hard drive if you turn it off every night. My recommendation is to leave it on, but make sure you have proper energy savers for the screen and hard disks on so it doesn't waste power.

The sound driver is either corrupted or missing

You can try the following and roll back the setting to earlier time:

Click Start Button,
Then select All programs,
then "accessories",
then, "system tools",
then, "system restore",

A utility will start. click Next.
(Please note that it will not cause any harm to your data so dont worry about it.)

after flipping through couple of screens, it will give you an option to roll back the settings to an earlier time.
Select an earlier Bold date (that means a system check point exists) click on a check point and click next.
It will ask you to restart after reload. Allow that.
(The system will be rolled back to the point you selected (select a checkpoint that was earlier than the problem occured)).

you will see that once the system will restart, it has restored the system settings to an earlier time and your problem is resolved.

Will appreciate if you can rate this solution offered to you.

Thanks & Best Regards,
Techno-Geek.

Hp pavilion g series manual

what does not working mean (KBD) dead, or 1 key bad or row. what? symptoms matter most, for sure in a LAPTOP IS IT the word Pavilion is on laptops and desktop, dig? G mean zero , the service tag does not just say "G" sorry. easy peasy lemon squeezy HP.com complex URL no? go there tell them your model # or better the service tag code ! . then magically HP puts you on YOUR service support page and all manuals and all driver before your eyes. amazing no? NO told at all or of a laptop or desktop or what./? you posted ANON so I can't just read other posts by you to learn what PC this is , no I can not. there are over 100 PC called G series, and vast years. some PCs by them G1 to 7 are generations, like HP Pavilion g6-1029tx Notebook. if you can find the service tag the product ID # is what matters most this code includes (real model, version , options and country sold) see this, older PCs by them had this. see that , all matters but do not post SN/ or service codes in public. mine: procuct code (nnnnnnABA#) https://www.pcdied.com/TAG-jive/tag-elite8540w.JPG I will guess it is 17" laptop, here is the mess just that 1 sized once you see this you know that G series means not MUCH> https://search.brave.com/images?q=hp+G+series++pavilion++17%22+G&source=web

The airplane mode button is stuck on orange although my computer say's airplane mode off

old PCs do that, for many reasons. but no PC told at all just HP. 40 years of PCs ,10000 + models nobody can guess ever. but I do have the answer, in pure generic form. did you buy the PC like that used and bad Wifi. ?
  1. the wifi card is missing, as was super common 10+ years ago.
  2. someone put in the wrong card, not from HP list
  3. HP blacklists (bios blocks) none HP cards (wifi)
  4. the card needs a driver to work if not it is dead or 1/2 dead.
  5. the PC needs 1 more driver to make the wifi buttons all work , all buttons related, if not they are dead or act odd.
  6. The OS is infected, no OS told at all, not one clue nor if upgraded the OS, and not vast drivers are wrong or missing, (classic)
Im sure this this is not the free w10 upgrade, if it was that too kills drivers dead, for sure HP told you this unstated PC will not run W10 and has zero support from HP, on w10 AS YOUR SUPPORT PAGE WILL DISCLOSE TO YOU AT HP.COM
