You must adjust the record level from the input device - i.e. mixer or soundcard. There is no input level control within Cubase. It is often the case, however that the problem lies with the backing track being too loud.

Have you set left and right locators at the start and end of the section you want to mixdown?

Have you try to run CHKDSK(check drives for errors). Select the drive where you have your sessions, right click and choose properties, then on the second tab (I mean) there is a feature to check drive for errors, check all the possibilities and reboot the computer and let the program run, this should help.

press F4 to open device panel. there you must be able to select inputs and out puts fromyour alesis interface.
be in stereo or mono(check your alesis specifications to know how many mono and stereo inputs it has.
then when you create a new track on the right side of the sequencer window. you must see a input and uut put routing tab
so if you whant to record voice in one track select the inputs where your mic is plug
create a new track and select the other input
so for shure it will say alesis INPUT 1
alesis INPUT 2
alesis INPUT 3
and so on depending on how many inputs your devices haves.
you say it haves 2. but
are they 2 only in stereo
or two in mono
or one mono+one moni+one mono+mono
for a total of 4 inputs in mono mode and 2 in stereo mode.
i dont know witch device you have so i cant tell.

what are your system specs- and does it crashes?,freezes?

you have a pci audio card so maybe you can add an extra input device by going to devices panel or press F4 shortcut.
and choose your usb mic.
also you can check your wavelab audio inputs. they must have the same config so if you can record woth your usb mic and your poci card in wave lave you must be able to do so in cubase sx

You need to convert t5he files to .cda format for audio only and NTSC for television. A good way to make an audio cd is to do it through windows Media Player.It is very easy to use. Just find the button for burning to CD and follow the instructions.

Thay key may be a hard lock for the system. What was the USB key be for? What was on it. Can you give me more details?

I think you will have to contact Steinberg directly, as it sounds like it's not something we can help with directly. Explain to them your problem and they may be able to give you a new key or re-activate your old one
