The needle will not stay
Place the upper thread, along with your lower thread UNDER the presser foot....you may not be allowing enough thread off of the bobbin and roll. Pull out the thread to about 6 inches and see what happens, Happy Sewing!

Well, the simple answer for this may just be the needle. Sometimes you would be surprised what these machines can withstand. Perhaps in your understandable panic over doing something as shocking as accidentally dropping something as expensive as a sewing machine, the simple things were overlooked. Stitches not forming correctly are almost always a sign of the thread and needle not working together with the fabric. The needle could be damaged or the wrong type for the fabric; the thread tension could be wrong, and so on. I am crossing my fingers that the issue is something that inexpensive. Although, of none of those suggestions fix the issue, you might just have to take it in to the shop. Call around first and go only to a shop that does free estimates- they will be able to tell you how much a repair might be before they do the work. It also might, at that point, be something small he will fix at no charge (my repair guy is wonderful like that). To my understanding, repair bills for such an issue (if there is a need for such a repair) will run in the ballpark of $25-100. Here is to hoping that it is only a $.69 needle!
While sewing and finishing seam I went in reverse
Raise the needle, make sure no thread is caught ( try clearing out the bobbin area), then turn off the machine, re-thread the machine, then power the machine back on. That should take care of it. ;)

If the needle was on the down position when you switched stiches, this could have caused the problem. Raise the needle completely, power the machine off for 30 seconds, then power back on... Did that fix it?
While sewing, my light shut
Most likely, the light has burnt out. It's probably a type of appliance bulb. Take a look in your machine's manual and see if it tells you what type of light to buy. If it does, take the manual with you to the hardware store, too (preferably an Ace, True Value, something like that-not Home Depot). Otherwise, take the bulb with you and ask someone at the store for help. Tell them what the bulb is for and they should be able to help you buy a replacement.
Sewing machines use standard appliance bulbs, but they are very low watt bulbs and not just a general type, so be sure to get some help. You're bulb just probably has burnt out just like one in your lamp does.
My machine is skipping stitches when I free hand
Make sure you have your thread through all of the thread guides, If I feel I need a little extra tension I loop my thread through the bobbin tension guide on top of the machine, especially if it is a fine or silky thread for decorative work. Make sure your bobbins are wound tight and also threaded correctly. When freehand quilting you should sew at a moderate speed and make sure to move your fabric smoothly with the speed at which you are sewing, you may just have to practice a bit like I did...If none of this works you may need to take your machine in and have the tension set on the bobbin housing itself..

Hello
First, lift the presser foot; next, push the feed dog lever to the raised position; finally, turn the handwheel towards you until you hear the feed dogs snap into place
If it doesn't, you will have to run a maintenance check on your feed dogs,
Unplug the machine and examine the feed dogs. The newer machines have metal feed dogs, but older models may have rubber ones, which often need replacing. Examine the feed dogs and check for damage.
Remove the throat plate, which is the covering over the feed dogs, and clean it with a soft cloth. Use a small soft brush to clean the feed dogs. Make sure to remove all lint and thread from the grooves of the teeth. Some machines have an adjustment that lowers the feed dogs for specific sewing procedures. They should be in the raised position for better viewing during the cleaning process.
Clean the area around the feed dogs with a soft brush. Compressed air is a good choice to use in the small tight areas.
Wipe down all areas with a clean, lint free cloth before replacing the throat plate.
Prepare to clean the feed dogs and all other areas that lint may accumulate on, after every project. Your sewing machine will last longer and need fewer repairs if kept clean and lint free.
Always unplug the sewing machine before any type of maintenance or cleaning.
Never use a sharp tool when cleaning the feed dogs as this may cause damage to the sewing machine.
My needle threader will not
1. check if the needle is the correct needle size
2. check to see if bobbin is correctly positioned in the bobbin support.
3. refer to the manual for trouble shooting steps.
4. check to see if the needle is threaded properly.
What foot do I use
Read your manual. You cannot expect to use your machine without knowing all of its features. If, you cannot find it, go to
www.singerco.com, under customer support, instruction manuals, enter 7436 and download a free one to keep on your computer and/or print.
Alot of people do not want to read it but, it is kind of like trying to drive a car without any idea what the pedals are for.
I just opened my sewing
Did you buy it from a dealer? They usually give lessons, or if not, grab your owners manual and read it, do not be afraid to experiment. Another great place is "you tube", they have lots of helpful videos of people using their sewing machines and tips The Singer website is
www.singerco.com and has lots great sewing tips under customer support, frequently asked questions is super too. As I said do not be afraid to experiment and read your manual, it kind of like trying to make dinner with no recipe. There is no magic bullet.Good luck

or sewusa.com has some threading diagrams
Where on line can I
First thing that I would do is download a free manual at
www.singerco.com under customer support, just put your model #7436 and save it to your computer. Your bobbin size is 15j, you can buy anyplace that sells sewing machine parts, ie.
www.sewingpartsonline.com, etc , or call Singer at 1-800-4singer and order from them direct. Your needles are just ordinary, it depends what you are trying to sew. Ebay has different vendors too. Good luck
I purchased a Singer Ingenuity
The bobbin size is Singer 15j, it is in your manual, you just have to look hard for it. I don't know why they make it so difficult to find, don't feel bad that you didn't see it right away. . Do Not Use #66, they will not fit right. Go to a fabric store, like JoAnn's and get them from them. You can also find them on Ebay, for a lot less and free shipping. 15j is a little smaller than a 15 and is made for the 7400 series of Singer Sewing machines. Even Amazon sells them if you are not near enought to a JoAnn's or fabric store.
How to insert the threat?

Cannot get the bobbin case back in
Go to
www.singerco.com and look at sewing resources and you will see the instructions for inserting the bobbin case. Now if you are referring to the shuttle and hook, you can see that the half moon must be on top, if you google it you can see different diagrams or go to you tube and see it.
My singer is not dragin thread from eather top or
Download a free manual at
www.singerco.com under customer service because you need to rethread totally, Once you have rethreaded it, try pulling on the top thread with the presser foot up, it should pull smoothly, now put the presser foot down, pull top thead again, it should barely move. This should seat the thread in the tension discs. Also, check that your needle is inserted right, flat side facing the rear of the machine. Good luck
