You didn't throw away the piece did you? You can get a fiberglass repair kit at the automotive store, mix a little up and use it as glue. You may have to tape it together for a little while but then it will be like new.

Ask you local Singer dealer, be armed with the model number when you call.
Freestanding spool holders can be bought (or made.)

Have you had the machine serviced since you purchased it? This is something that should be done at least once a year.

Take the machine to a certified Singer dealer and explain what is happening. There may or may not be something that needs to be adjusted.

Your warranty is still in effect, but is now limited. Attempting to repair it yourself or having someone who is not a Singer dealer repair it will invalidate the remaining warranty.

check the feed dogs to see if their up position, if they are in the up position the the machine needs to be checked

try changing the needle--make sure it's the correct one for the fabricbeing sewedrethread the machine ---using every thread guidetry using a different bobbintry turning the bobbin over the other directionclean under the needle plate and in the bobbin area for lintalso could be a timing problem and the machine would need to be checked at a sewing machine repair shop

check and adjust thread tension on needle and bobbin. It requires changing for different thread thickness.

First of all, make sure that the machine is in straight stitch forward position. If it is and you are still having a problem, take the top of the machine off and blow hot air from a hair dryer down towards the reverse mechanism. That will unfreeze it.

After seeing this, I went onto sewingpartsonline.com and was able to order a new reverse lever for $7.95. Considerably cheaper than taking it in for repair.

Clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint or threads

it should,, when the light on my mechanical sewing machinewent out I could still sew on it ,,but I needed a extra light that wasvery bright to sew by.
