Amana PTH123B50AJ Heat Pump,12000BTU, 230V, 5.0KW PTAC Air Conditioner Questions & Answers
My 7yr old Amana PTAC unit, Model PTH123B50AJ sometimes works and sometimes not. I had a repair tech check it & he told me the control board was bad and they wanted $440 to fix it. I told him no,
EBay often has the control boards for Amana heat pumps, and installing them is fairly straightforward, provided you have some experience with electronics, a soldering iron, etc. Amanapartsonline.com may also be able to sell you the part, which should run between $50 and $150. Given, however, that the thermostat is also showing problems, as well as what parts are going for these days, I'd seriously consider upgrading to a new unit and selling the old one on Craigslist to offset the cost a bit. If you can find an HVAC technician, someone who's learning HVAC, someone who just wants it for a guestroom where it need not work perfectly or a landlord who can afford to have a secondhand unit fixed and put it in one of their properties for their tenants to buy your fixable old one for a few hundred dollars and a new one only runs about $700, your upgrade will cost less than having the 7-year-old unit repaired, plus you'll be recycling.

I'm not getting any code after installing a control board for my Amana ptac?
Does the power light come on?
If yes, then you can do a reset as below:
There is a master switch on the bottom left of the control board. Slide that to 'off' position.
Then press the hot and cold switch/key together and then slide the master switch back to 'on'.
Please put your response/observation here if that does not work or there is power light as asked on top.
Thanks
Amana PTH153B50AM PTAC where the heat runs intermittently.
i'm not familiar with your specific unit but ..sounds like an electronic gas value has gone bad or has a bad connection when that happened to my friend it wasn't that expensive to have it fixed .. BYW it acted like this for a while then stopped working completely
Amana Wall unit blows cold air before heating
The cold that you describe may be just unconditioned air? If you are certain you can hear the comp operating for a couple of minutes, and then the heat starts, I would guess it is a reversing valve issue if it's a heat pump and it probably is. Or the control board acting up. I've had a lot of issues with the boards in the Amanda PTAC units. I can't remember how to configure it, but if you Google "Amanda ptac configuration", there is a lot of info online. May try a reset method first. Hope this helps!
I have an Amana AP148D, can I run it without an
Self evaporating simply means there is a drain pan with a heater device installed that will evaporate and condensate that drains from the unit into the pan.
You do not need the external drain pan unless the unit makes more water than the drain pan and drain pan heater can handle.
I hav a amana ap148d and it shut off and the
Empty the water pan. It not sealed so dont slosh it around. Mine did the same thing. Amana rep was an ***. Wouldn't give me an inkling of what to do. So i started to fiddle around. There was a lot of water in it Be careful. I brought mine to the tub and drained it for close to 2 min. Started right back up!
