I have the same problem. I totally took the unit apart and cleaned it out. After I reasembled it, the same thing. Just that little cleaning overdue light on. I can tell that it is not working as well as there is no breeze coming from the front. That is what I get for buying a serviced unit.

Try unplugging it for 1/2 an hour and it may reset itself.

two choices bin it and buy a new one or try putting a new piece of wire into it ,for this i often use a piece of fuse wire depending on the current and for some reason this can work ,match fuse wire to thickness of element and if your lucky away you go

These things may not SEEM to move air, but they do - slowly and steadily purifying the air and adding a negative ion charge to the air which helps the dirt in the air fall down and be captured during vacuum cleaning, sweeping, etc.

Sharper Image sold warranties through the NEW Corporation. That company is still in business and will should honor your warranty by either repairing or replacing your product.

Pull up on the tab on the bottom of the front filter and pull up. You then should be looking at the bulb, which you will turn 1/4 turn (2 clicks). You should then be able to pull the bulb out.

If the warranty you are counting on is a Sharper Image Warranty I need to advise you that it was voided in the buyout on 30 May, 2008 when everything at Sharper Image was liquidated by Hilco Consumer Capital, Gordon Brothers, and Bluestar Alliance. If however it was a warranty company outside of Sharper Image you need to contact them.

You can purchase a bulb for the GP on ebay for under $11, which is really a good price considering what you would have paid from Sharper Image. Installation is easy, you just pull up on the tab on the bottom of the filter and pull up. When you are looking at the bulb, turn it 1/4 turn, (2 clicks) and pull it out. That is all there is to it. You need to first check the outlet and also you can try to move it to different outlet, if still it does not work then check for a wire inside that might have come loose.

Also, this product has been recalled by Sharper Image after they lost a lawsuit on the units. The legal action forced the company into Chapter 11.


There are articles on the internet about the lawsuit between Consumer Reports and Sharper Image as well so you cannot buy its parts may be you can still check with sears however they might have old parts only. Sharper Image Ionizers are no longer supported because they have recalled since they were proven to be ineffective for cleaning the air and can harm people with breathing problems. So buying a complete new unit will be the best bet.

do u have an owners guide?, i believe this light is for the door that you remove to clean the collection grid.

The recall had to stop because of the chapter 11 they filed. If you goto CNN.com and check their archives, there is an article listed in their site about it.

You can also find on the internet articles about Conusmer Products Safety Commission releasing a report on all ionizers by the end of the year that could stop the sale of them altogether.

The theory is that the dust particles in the air collect on the metal plates from the electrical charge from the machine. Once it gets it full you simply clean the plates off.

There is a debate going on this country with the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC), Consumer Reports, The EPA, and several manufacturers about whether her they are effective at cleaning the air and if they are harmful to use because they create an ozone from air that has been charge positive from the ionizer. Part of the debate also states that the machines can be harmful to use for people who have asthma or other breathing problems. The CPSC may discontinue the sale of them altogether by the end of the year once their report comes out. This is another industry unfortunately our government should have regulated.

Sharper Image debated it in court and lost because they couldn't prove that the machine did what it was supposed to do. As a result, they recalled the machines, and went into chapter 11 bankruptcy because they had to pay Consumer Reports legal bills after a report they released as well as their own.

As a copy technician we have been told the harmful effects of ozone. Some copier machines filter it out, some don't.

It was recalled because Consumer Reports tested ionizers and Inoic Breeze got a negative review. Sharper Image sued Consumer Reports and lost. Not only did they lose but they were ordered to pay all the legal fees forcing the company into chapter 11. Not only did Consumer Reports data ruin their case but data from the EPA shows that ionizers can be harful to use.

The Consumer Products Safety Comission is going to issue a report on all ionizers by the end of the year. Their report could prevent anyone from selling them. This business should have been regulated years ago and no one stepped up to the plate until this year about it.

Ionic Breeze is no longer being supported by Sharper Image. They did have a recall program on the product but I believe it has been discontinued.

The product was proven not to clean the air by Consumer Reports as well as EPA studies. Sharper Image tried to sue but lost.

Consumer Products Safety Commission is reviewing all ionizers and will make a decision by the end of the year. Due to health issues with using the machines themselves, these machines may disappear for good.
