NEED INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR SINGER MERRITT 9612
I was able to find this manual and purchase it for a few bucks, at www.ifixmachines.com give them a try, I liked that I was able to phone in my order. 20u73 singer timing issues
is the needle the right one for the fabric being sewed?is the needle turned the right way in the needle holder and pushedall the way up in the needle holder?if the above is totally correct, the I suggest taking the machineto some other repair person, cause if the repair technican can't time the machine they should have told you they couldn't work on the machine .

Set timing to stop skipping
here are some suggestionsSkipped stitches
1. The needle is not inserted correctly
Remove needle & reinsert needle( flat side towards the back of machine)
2. The needle is damaged
replace with new needle
3. The wrong size needle is being used
Choose a needle to suit the thread & fabric
4. The foot not attached correctly
Check & attach correctly

I have a 1975 singer 20u the reverse has stopped
