I got a used shuttle and i don't know the password

If there's no harddisk present, it means you need a password at hardware (BIOS) level, immediately at boot-up.The former owner should have provided this pwd to you. However, there's a work-around.1) Disconnect powercable2) Open casing3) Locate the CMOS-battery (it's a 3V CR2032 battery)4) Remove this battery from it's socket / holder5) Get a 100 Ohm resistor6) Connect both pins of resistor to the connectors of the batterysocket / holder. Hold this resistor for about 2 hours.7) Insert battery back again8) Close casing, connect powercable and turn on PC.

What is the command prompt

Command prompt is a non-graphical (DOS-like) screen and is mainly text-based.Think about the old computers.A command prompt can be opened in Windows, when touching the start-button(Left bottom corner), next selectng "Run" and type either "cmd" or "command" (without the quotation-marks) and push the ENTER-buton.When performed correctly, you should see a menu to pop-up with a black screen and white text.If you're not familiar with this command prompt, don't go for it. It's like the operating system of the old computers, or you can think of when there was no Windows (*). This is purely text-based.

How to download files onto USB flash memory

Just plug the memory stick into your USB port on the computer. Windows has the drivers already installed. A taskbar icon will appeer us a connected USB device, exacly as a digital camera would. You will find the stick in My Computer as a removalble drive. Click on the right side mouse button over the flash drive icon and click properties to see the stick memory size, ect.... Use it as you would any other removable dirve, ie: 3.5" floppy disk, CD Read/Write. I would go to the TOOLS button for the drive and click FORMAT for you first use of the stick to test its memory. After that you can just copy, save, drag and drop files like always....

Screen freezing up

Do your defrag from safe mode and see if that helps. There might be something running in the background that is messing it up.Another thing that could cause freezing is a bad hard drive. Have you run scandisk first before defragging? I'd strongly suggest it.

No video on boot!

This is not normally a bios problem. If you have a second video card in the computer, you might try to get video on that one. Otherwise, I would place the problem as one of two things: The video card or the power supply.I wouldn't try to flash the BIOS unless you have really good reason to suspect it.

How to factory reset an asus eee pc 1000hd

What do yo mean by reset? Do you mean reload the operating system?

If your drive is ok, you should be able to boot to a recovery partition and reload.

If your disk is completely corrupt, you will need an external drive to load the operating system. Or you can do it with a flash drive that can boot.

I converted a Linux machine to Windows with a flash drive. You can Google it to find the method. It is fairly complicated.

It is not difficult to put Linux on it.

Hi i have an Asus lap top infected by a trogan

I hate to tell you this bud, but this will likely require a reload of your Laptop to fix the problem.

There are a bunch of programs out there that claim to be able to fix viruses, but few do the job well. And with Windows unusable, the job is even harder.

You may wish to buy a anti-virus program that allows you to create a bootdisk to clean the disk outside Windows, but there are no guarantees it will do the job.

If I were you, I'd reload it from scratch with a clean format of the harddrive. If you decide to go with the Anti-virus bootdisk route. I recommend McAfee Antivirus for the job. It appears to be the best at doing this.

Best of luck and let us know how it goes.
