Technics SL-J1 turntable drive belt
Hello Cliff,
You will need 2 belts, if the turntable belt is gone the other is not far behind . One for the turntable size 23.6 inch by .188 and one for the tracking motor that is in the top cover part, is a 3.0 inch by .046 belt. best place to get them is at kenselectronics.com part numbers 1407-201 and AV-SBS3.0 if you have been checking around you will see other sizes, I have a SL-J1 and have used these and they work perfectly.

How to record from decks to mac air?
get a USB interface sound card, then come out of the mixers REC OUT or BOOTH, in to the USB's LINE IN or MIC.Then you'll need some recording software installed.
Technics Sl-1210 MkII spins backwards
As the turntable was hit hard then an internal inspection should be done to look for signs of phyical damage. It could be anything from broken parts to bad soldering or a crack on the PC board. I rather suspect it should be obvious what got damaged when you look inside.
Deck buzzing
Probably a lose earth wire on a lead or cartridge.
My 1210 mk3's keep's popping the internal fuse?
Sounds to me like the capacitor across the motor needs replacing. On the + and - on a motor is a capacitor. This might be the problem, replace it as it should not be too expensive, you can never tell. Some times they are a few pence other time they are a few pounds. Why I don't know. If it's a common one, a few pence if it's a rare one, pounds....... I hope this helps.
Wich amp do i need for my technics1210 can i use
Hi,
You can use any amp, (with matching speakers) but remember that the output of the TT magnetic cartidge is extremely low!
About the same as a Dynamic Microphone!
So, before you buy a amplifier, make sure that is had two Magnetic input sockets in the back!
Or else, it will not work!
The level is about 2 Millivolts!
Any amp like the ones used for walkmans, computors, & ipods, WILL NOT WORK!
Enjoy!
Andy etc
