I have a Bose 3.2.1.

Possible faulty lead or a poor connection. Has the new Sky Box been fitted to the HDMI socket the Bose had? Try switching sockets if there is more than one HDMI socket.

The volume is not responding from either the remote or the console; mute function not working either.

Check your remote control to see if the buttons are working properly. Or go into your unit's settings and check what the volume default is set to - It might be set to prevent it from going lower or higher.

Bose 321 series II giving very dull sound in all inputs. Occaisionally the sound cuts and comes back with full and bright trebble, but then cuts back to original dull sound. I cant see anything the ad

Try the following: 1) Switch the unit off completely, using the powerswitch on the back of the bass box. 2) Switch the unit back on via de switch on the bass box. 3) The display should read BOSE 321 and than be dark. 4) Insert a CD and switch the unit on with the remote by selecting the CD/DVD mode. 5) When the sound is now OK, it means that you need to contact Bose to ask them for the latest software update for your unit. After updating your system. The problem will not reoccur. 6) in case the problem continues and at start-up using a CD, no improvement of sound is heard, the system should go into repair. Contact Bose in your country and ask for return instructions.

When I put a disk

Hi this maybe a Format issue, meaning that the Region Codes maybe incorrect? You first need to establish exactly what's wrong? However if it isn't that, then this indeed sounds as though, then that the laser head assembly or the interface electronics are going bad, this is a pretty common thing and i see similar things in my shop frequently, the only fix is replacement of either the laser assembly and or the electronics interface? There is no real way to tell without actually examining the unit.
I doubt that Bose will fix it well for free anyway? You may have had a shot, if you had contacted them when it first happened but no i fear 3 years later, is too late, but never say never, and it will not hurt to contact them and ask what to do? Most often these manufacturers will repair the device, at a moderate cost in any event, so you need to contact them via their website and indicate what you have here and ask for some help, and see how you go. If that doesn't work, then get it looked at by a professional that specifically deals and repairs these and or similar units, ask for a 'Quote' as to costings etc, and go from there. perhaps even ask them where to send the unit for repair?

Reset:
1) Turn around the lifestlye system so you can see all the cables. First unplug the cable which connects the lifestyle system to the huge acoustimass module (bass speaker). It is a roundish 8 pin cable - on mine it was in the second column of slots from the left. Labelled main. under the power input plug and above a slot labelled Boselink. If you have one in the Boselink instead, unplug that as that is what he was originally trying to get me to unplug but I didn't have anything there.
2) Second, unplug the DC power cord just above it
3) wait at least a minute
4) plug the power back in
5) plug back in the first cable to the acoustimass
The order you do this is apparently important.

Clean the lens:
All you have to do is carefully take the top off and clean the "Iris" which is the reader with a little alcohol and cotton swab. Bose will charge $165 plus shipping to do this. Go to website metacafe.com and search how to clean DVD players and it will show a video, easy to understand.
Call for help:

I'd call Bose and make the case

Try to clean the DVD drive lens with a Lens cleaner CD. These are available at your local department stores such as Kmart. It looks like a CD but it has a brush attached to it. Just insert the cleaning CD and let it cycle a couple of time and then remove it. If this does not work then your DVD laser could be going bad.
