I have a Emachine w3503

your cmos battery(CR2032) is FLAT. you need to replace it. you then need to CLEAR the cmos so it doesnt contain corrupt values. that process erases any passwords. usually the jumper is next to the battery . fit new battery. move jumper to CLR position(shorting pins) wait a few seconds. move jumper back across to NRM(normal) position. start the pc, enter the BIOS, load DEFAULTS, SAVE and reboot. enjoy.

How to restore system

im assuming you have the recovery diskRestart the computer and press the pause/break key on the keyboard.

This key will slow down the boot process and allow you to see the motherboard BIOS access key that you'll need to press in order to access the motherboard BIOS.

Press the respective motherboard access key and check the motherboard BIOS for a boot sequence.

Change the settings in the boot sequence so the primary boot device or the first boot drive is the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.

Insert the system recovery disc into the disc drive.

Restart the computer and allow it to boot up before doing anything.

A black screen should show up with the words Press any key to boot from disc CD/DVD. Press a key to have the system boot from the recovery disc.

Allow the system to load.

Follow the on-screen instructions on how to install the rest of the operating system.

There are many different settings for you to choose. If the operating system is just a little out of whack, you can choose to repair it.

The system recovery disc will contain important drivers and software for all the components connected to the computer system.

If you do not have a system restore disc you can search the Internet for drivers and software that are packaged for your specific eMachines model.

Restore the BIOS to their default settings so the hard drive is primary boot sequence.

This is an optional step.

You can leave the CD-ROM drive as the primary boot drive, but it will slow down the startup process by a few seconds.hope this helps

I have a emachine w3503

Hello sortugado, If your sound is dead, This could mean that you've plugged it into the wrong socket. This could be wrong. But try this.
Start - Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager - Right Click on the Sound/Audio (it should have a yellow sign next to it) Then go Find Manually and go down the List, Press Sound & Hardware, What ever brand your computer is, there should be sound that is the brand name as the same computer brand you have. Once that's found, Click it. It should then install your hardware sound. If this problem still doesn't work, You can simply go on ebay and buy a $5 Sound card. These do work, I am using one now, and let me tell you, it's absolutely great! So cheap great quality, and fast shipment. I hope you get your sound to work :)

I cant hear sound for

Assuming you used to hear sounds, you could have one of several problems.
1) Your speakers are turned off (is the little light on the speakers green?)
2) The volume is turned down or muted. Check to be sure you haven't accidentally muted them. You can find this out by clicking the little speaker icon in the system tray and seeing if the mute box is checked or check the sounds icon in the control panel.
3) Something happened to the sound driver. If you are in the Control Panel and click on sounds, you should see the various sound assigned to computer events. If you click the arrow to test play the sound and the little arrow is grayed out, then the sound drivers are missing or corrupt and must be reloaded.
4) Your speakers could be bad.

Where is the disk drive for a floppy disk located

Sorry, but it appears that the EMachines model W3503 does not have a floppy disk drive installed. See this link: http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/emachines-w3503/1707-3118_7-32178774.html

Floppy disks are obsolete at this point. If you have data on a floppy disk that you wish to retrieve, see about getting help from someone you know who might have one on their computer system, or visit a public library (you might be able to offload the floppy disk contents and e-mail them to yourself).

Most people use USB flash drives now. They are far more reliable and have enormous capacity. Definitely get one if you don't have it. The W3503 computer has several USB ports on it.

Amber colored power light on eMachine W3503

The amber power light indicates that your computer has been "sleeping" or "hibernating" and usually all it takes to restart the computer is tapping a key on the keyboard. If this is not the case, try holding the Power switch down for 6-10 seconds to force the system off. Restart in Safe Mode and try to find the settings for Sleep/hibernate, open the control panel and open the Screen Saver. Select "Change Power Settings" and set it for "Never" on sleep and hybernate.

Computer will start up but will not pass the logo

Hello. I have had the same problem with my eMachines Desktop (I have the C6415 Desktop Series). First try unplugging all external hard drives, web cameras, or other external equipment. Basically everything but the Keyboard and Mouse. If this doesn't work then open up your computer and check if the internal hard disk and optical drive are plugged in. If those are plugged in then the only other way to repair this is to restore the OS. Do this by inserting the restore media CD into the optical drive and going into your bios if this is possible.

Sm bus

The term: SM Bus is the same as chipset driver. Your e-Machine came with restore CD's. You can run the restore CD to repair your system, you shouldn't loose any data repairing windows.
If your able to load windows, load the driver CD from e-Machine and re-install the chipset drivers.

Cheers!
Mike
