You're probably missing a driver for it. Download it off the website for which ever mouse you're using and see if that works. If not try to see if your USB ports will read anything else. Like a flashdrive or get a USB keyboard and test them, assuming you're using a USB mouse.

That Machine would take DDR2 PC2-5300 upgrade chips. The max that system could take would be two 1GB sticks for a total of 2GB or 2048MB of memory. Memory is fairly easy to damage with static discharge and is also very easy to not put in all the way. Open PC up and re-seat if not integrated with mother board. But yes, easily replaceable even if yours is integrated. Simply pop a new one into expansion slot. Check slots before you purchase one.

I'm a bit confused....did you have all four of these in the ACER and are trying to put the 2x1GB into the Emachine? And that the 2x1 GB wouldn't work in the Emachine but they did in the ACER and that the 2x512 Acer cards worked in the emachine?If that is what happened here is my best guess. The ACER MOBO will support 533/667/800 MHZ DDR2 RAM. The Emachine will only support 533 RAM. Iys possible the 2x1GB are either 667 or 800 MHZ and are not compatible with the Emachine but will work in the ACER.

Have you tried booting from the disc by going to the boot menu to select the dvd/cdrom to directly boot from the Disc of win7 instead of installing form within another orpeating system.

Your computer doesn't have the required specifications to install Vista, I believe it has too little RAM. 512MB is technically enough, but it's possible Vista won't install on it because of that.

This problem can occur with mismatched RAM modules. Try to use the same make, type and speed as the original RAM module.
