Omega Lexicon sound card refuse to set up
If you are trying to set it up on a new computer it probably has Winsows Vista. The older cd is probably setup for Windows XP and below. You should be able to download the Vista installation package & drivers from the manufacturers website. Just click the Support link and lookup your specific model #; select Vista as the operating system and the files should appear. Download and Install and you should be all set. Hope this helps.
Recording with cubase problem
Need to set it to stereo. There may be a switch on your mixer, and you will also need to change the settings in Cubase to record in stereo, not mono.
Icant record more than one track at a time.
Welcome to my nightmare. I have been having nothing but grief with this box. Try going into your control panel and click the hardware tab. Under device manager, look in the sound, video and game controller and see if your Lexicon Input 1-2 an 3-4 are enabled. If not right click and enable them.
Only Sound
Could be the monitor settings don't match the video output or the video card has failed. Try entering the BIOS setup screen at startup. Usually the 'DEL' key held down. If screen is displayed (It will be in default VGA mode at that point), then you know the video stream is OK. Continue booting, and press F8 to enter windows safe mode, and continue from there to get the display parameters corrected.
My Lexicon Alex is malfunctioning, where can I find parts?
I don't think it's broken. I think you've cleared some registers (probably number 5 from your description, maybe more) and now you're "us[ing] cleared registers as loop points." This means that you're looping 1-2-3-4 then back to 1 again. This is actually a feature of the Alex and it's awesome as long as you're using it intentionally :) If you don't know you're "using" it the unit have symptoms similar to what you're describing. It's possible that it is broken, but it's more likely that you're in this mode.
I attached a pic of my user's manual.
Also here are the directions as printed in the manual to clear or restore a register (i.e. a number spot on the dial):
- Briefly press STORE/CLEAR until a minus sign (-) is displayed.
- Press and hold STORE/CLEAR. If you were in preset mode, the register LED will go on, indicating that Alex has automatically switched to register mode -- selecting whatever register is indicated by the position of the REGISTER/PRESET knob. The "-" symbol in the display will flash, indicating that the CLEAR function is armed.
- Releasing STORE/CLEAR will clear the displayed register. The display will flash briefly to indicate the clear was successful. (The ID number of any cleared register flashes when selected with the REGISTER/PRESET knob.)
To restore a cleared register, simply repeat the clear operation with the "+" displayed.
The Asio Driver OmegaAsio could not be started!
I get this too. I don't know how to stop it happening in the first place, but if you find you can't record after it happens, this is what sorts it for me:
Go to 'Devices' and then 'Device Set-up'. Make sure you're in the 'VST Audio System' part of the menu. Click on 'Set to Defaults', then 'Apply' and 'OK'.
I have to say, though, I'm finding the Omega a total pain because of all these random issues!

Lexicon Omega USB on new HP Dual core laptop pc running vista 4GB Ram
You said the magic phrase premiume HOME computer...
and the key word VISTA.
I've heard of VISTA pro running this but the home version is really not that robust for the type of gear you have there.
vista just has to many bugs.
go back to xp pro sp2 for good results.
good luck

Lexicon Omega/Cubasele4
I've had this problem and similar ones. Following these steps seems to help:
Starting Cubase before switching on the Omega.
Go to 'Devices' and then 'Device Set-up'. Make sure you're in the 'VST Audio System' part of the menu. Make sure the Omega is selected as the ASIO driver - if not, switch it. Then click on 'Set to Defaults', then 'Apply' and 'OK'.
Or re-setting the Omega sometimes helps too.
It's a pain, though.
Computer Noises
well ground is a major issue and part of my professional services
Computer Noises....
happens with a mixed ground issue. I had same thing with my laptop. only way to avert this is to super ground your digital sound devices...and connect them to ground/chassis of the desktop, if that's your option.
used to be called 60 cycle hum in olden days.

Trouble getting started
find the lexicon usb driver in device manager. uninstall it and reboot and let plug and play install a generic usb driver from windows.
I think this might help.
goodluck
