DISH Network DVR-625 DTV Receiver / 100-Hours Video Recorder Questions & Answers
Why does my dish network say it has been diconnected and do i fix it
There are many reasons it would say this, all of them based on how DISH recognized the combination of your SMART card and receiver number. DISH authorizes the correct combination of your SMART card and receiver so that you cannot just have one or the other and have it work. They may have intentionally disabled your account for non-payment or some other customer service related issue. Your SMART card may be damaged (if removed the screen would read "Please Insert Your Smart Card"). You should contact customer service
If the message on the screen reads, "A cable has been disconnected" it usually means that in the process of trying to find a signal, it could not. The cable between the receiver and the antenna (aka the dish) may have been damaged or cut. The antenna may have been damaged or installed incorrectly. This message is usually only shown when installing a new receiver. If you had an issue and they sent you a replacement receiver, this is more than likely the problem. Make sure that the cable coming from the antenna (usually from the wall or the floor) is plugged into the receivers satellite in, or the triplexer (a silver rectangle with three cables coming out to the receiver) 's in. If the cable is in the right spot (the triplexer's cables that go to the receiver are color coded and marked) and you still have the issue after unplugging and then plugging back in the receiver, the problem was not the initial receiver, and was instead either the continuity of the line to the antenna or the antenna's installation. (Poor or non-existent antenna reception means it was installed wrong or damaged). You would need a technician to solve these problems without more experience yourself.
Why does my Dish Network DVR-625 DTV receiver sound like it is running all the time
The Dish 625 as with the other Dish DVR systems has a fan built into the back of the unit. The fan runs nearly all the time to keep the internal drive cool. Sometimes the fan sounds louder that normal. what I do from time to time is take my shop vac and or the small vac u you use to clean your computer. and clean the vents around the fan. I do this on my desk top computer also.. Hope this helps.
Why does my reciever keep turning off by itself?
try looking into the Timer section on the TV. also on Dish if it is left unattended (like stay on same channel etc) it will go in to sleep mode, U then just hit the Select button.. U can go in the Dish menu and set the Sleep mode (inactivate mode ) to a longer time, I usually set my for 8 hours.
Can i save all the recorded programs on my dvr to a memory stick\
Hello Anon,
The answer is both yes and no. Please, do not go to walmart and buy a regular memory stick, as they are NOT compatible with Dish equipment.
It is entirely possible to transfer recordings from your DVR to a storage device, but it will need to be Dish Network issued. Call into Dish Network and inquire about an "external hard drive" as they are available for individual purchase.
The external hard drive will be $99, but will store all you data without an issue. I sell these devices on a daily basis, they are easy to use and reliable. Don't make the wrong choice and pass up the right decisions, you spent a lot of time getting those recordings together. Do you really want to part ways with them over $99?I sure wouldn't, and that's why I have used one personally.

I hit the SAT button by mistake and now the TV picture won't come back on- it says to hit input button but that doesn't work
Hi there, my name is Kimberly and I form part od the Social Media Department with DISH. If you are at TV1, where the receiver box is located, the tv needs to be on channel 3 or 4. Depending on the cable that is running between the receiver and the tv, the tv may need to be on an input, such as video 1 or 2 (Our remote will not always work to change the input on your tv. We recommend that you use the original remote that came with the TV at the time of purchse or the Input/Source button on the TV itself). If you are at the TV2 location, where there is no receiver, then the tv needs to be on channel 60 or 73.
If you are using an HDMI cable, then the TV will need to be on an HDMI input
If you are using Component cables, your TV will need to be on a component input. (Usually Comp 1 or 2)
If you are using RCA cables, then the TV will need to be on a VIDEO input (Usually Video 1 or 2)
If you are using COAX cables, then the tv needs to be on channel 3 or 4 (If you are at TV2, then the TV needs to be on channel 60 or 73)

To whom it may concern,
As a technician whom has been in the field for nearly a decade, my suggestion is to contact Dish Network customer service and set up a technician visit.. I know that there are far too many variables that could influence my answer and how I structure it, likely leading to more issues.
Best of wishes,
Dish Guy

Cannot record new programmes or view programmes already recorded
Hi there, my name is Kimberly and I form part of the Social Media department with DISH. What receiver model do you have? Is it the Hopper? If so, the issue is not because the receiver is defective. currently we are experiencing a known issue with our Hopper receivers recording shows that customers did not create a Timer for. We are working on getting this issue resolved and at this point we will need to submit a feedback form to our Technical Engineering department letting them know you are also experiencing the issue. Please send me your account information at:
[email protected] or contact us directly at: 1800-333-3474 so we can do this for you. Please know that the issue has been identified, they are working on getting rid of it and working to push out the update that will correct this as soon as possible.

Can't get my 21 1 ir/uhf pro remote to work with
If you are attempting to program it to tv-2 on a 625 receiver it has to be set to a odd number for example number 7 instead of 2 or 6.
The reason for this is that the 625 receiver only supports band A frequencies for UHF and on a 21.x remote odd numbers are A band and even numbers are B band.
Is this resiver HD ?
am_witek,
Our 625 receiver is not an HD model. Our current HD models are ViP
211/211k, 222, 612, 622, 722/722k, 922, and our Hopper receiver.

Dish receiver wont power up
angelspapa20,
If there's no power at all to the receiver, then we can definitely check
into it further. Try a different outlet if available to make sure it's
not the outlet having an issue.
If the problem persists, the receiver will need to be replaced. You can
contact our main line, or email me directly at
[email protected] to
get that taken care of!

Receiver lost signal, cannot aquair
It sounds like the dish may be mis-pointed since it's not recognizing all the satellites. The next step for this would be to send a technician out to get everything fixed. If you would like any assistance setting up a technician, just send me an email at

Turn off and on, blue screen
Hi, I am sorry you are having a problem with your DISH video. A blue screen means you are on the correct channel or input on your TV. If you turn the Tv off and then back on, ehat channel ot input does it say it is on. You should be on channel 3 if at TV1 or 60 or 73 if at TV2. If the receiver is connected to the TV using the Red/ White/Yellow cables, then the TV needs to be set to a video input. If you any additional assistance, please email me directly. Thank you!
