Can the progams on a DVR hard drive be saved if

Hey there! Anthony Thomas with DISH Network Customer Service. Unfortunately when a hard drive goes bad or the box itself won't power up, there is no way to recover the recordings. If a hard reset has not helped (unplugging the receiver for a bit and then plug it back in), then the receiver must be replaced to become operational and the recordings are lost. Not good news, but I hope this helps.

You may want to see what it would take to upgrade to a VIP HD DVR, as those can allow an external hard drive between 50 GB and 1 TB to "back up" recordings (activating the feature costs $40). When backed up though, should the receiver ever need replaced it would not be so devastating as the recordings are safely on the external drive, not to mention you can subscribe to HD! When considering the HDD to purchase, this link may help. http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/setup-ehd

Dishdvr is making noise and the green power light

Hey there. Anthony Thomas with DISH Network Customer Service. This issue is what we call a Receiver Power ON/OFF. Troubleshooting is relatively easy, as it requires a hard reset as the only step to it. A hard reset is just unplugging the power cord and then plugging it back in. One thing to make note of: If the receiver is plugged into a surge protector, try to plug it directly into the wall during this hard reset. While the surge protector may or may not be problematic in itself, it can cause the receiver to reboot thinking it needs more power. This bypass may resolve that issue. It is ok to have the receiver directly into the wall permanently. Try it and post back with a comment.

My Dish DVR 625 does

Hello! My name is Becki, and I am with Dish Network Customer Service. The issue that you are referring to could be caused my many things. It could be bad grounding of the system, in which case a technician would be needed, it could be your software is out of date, you need to have L5.44 software (Which you can look this up in your system info screen--menu button twice on the remote) or it could be a power issue. For a power issue, if your receiver is plugged into a surge protector, try to plug it directly into an outlet on the wall. If none of these fix the issue, and your issue isn't already fixed, Blog back, and we can definitely help further!!!! Any additional comments/questions? Blog back,or you can find us on Twitter!!!

Hello there! This is Becki Barned with Dish Netwoek customer service. There are a few reasons that could have happened. There could have been an event trying to record that stopped it, there could also have been someone trying to change the channel that accidentally stopped the recording. It could have been an issue with the DVR itself. If you have any other issues.

Sound isn't working when watching

Hello, Matt Gonzales with DISH Network here. To resolve this issue, try doing a hard reset on the receiver. To do a hard reset, you will unplug the receiver from the power outlet, leave it for 15 seconds, then plug it back in. After doing this, your receiver will go through a rebooting process which takes about 5 minutes. If that does not work, it can be a cabling issue, proper cabling diagrams can be found at tech.dishnetwork.com. If you're not able to get it working, please feel free to email me at [email protected].

We have dish network with a dvr. A few weeks ago

Hello, my name is Becki Barned with Dish Network customer service. I understand the frustration with this issue. There are a few things that could be causing this problem. There could be interference with a remote at a location near yours, such as a neighbor's remote. It could be a grounding issue, in which case a technician would be needed. Since it is happening on the second unit, a technician may be the best resolution, because as I said, it may be a grounding issue causing this. If this has not yet been resolved, or you have any other questions/comments, blog back, or you can also find us on Twitter!

Hello, my name is Becki Barned with Dish Network Customer Service. If this issue has not already been resolved, I would love to help you out. This is a power issue. Two things that you can do is try to unplug the receiver for 10 seconds, or try plugging the receiver directly into an outlet on the wall, if it is not already. If the problem has not yet been resolved, or you have any other questions, blog back, or you can find us on Twitter!!!

Hello this is Matthew Gonzales with DISH Network customer service. When both TV's are showing the same thing, normally the receiver is in "Single Mode". You can confirm this by looking at the front of your receiver and seeing what the orange light is under. If it is indeed in single mode, you can press the "Mode" button on the front of the receiver, which should allow you to watch separate programs on both TV's. If that does not correct it, the next step is to double check cabling. Proper cabling diagrams can be found at tech.dishnetwork.com. If you are still having this issue, please feel free to email me at [email protected] and I will make sure we get this issue resolved.

Hello, my name is Matthew Gonzales with DISH Network customer service. An error 004 is very closely related to signal issues. If you are still having this issue there are a couple things you can try if you have not. First, unplug the receiver from the power outlet it is connected to, leave it unplugged for about 20 seconds, then plug it back in. Your receiver goes through a rebooting process which takes about 5 minutes. After your show is back on, see if you can recreate the issue. If you are still having the issue, the next thing to try is a check switch test. To do a check switch test, you press menu on your DISH remote, then press the numbers 6-1-1, (system setup-installation-point dish) you should be on the point dish screen. Go up and select "check switch" on the right-hand side, on the installation summary, select "test" at the bottom. The receiver will do some tests, make sure if you get a warning at the end, to select "cancel" on the warning. Once again you will let your receiver reacquire the signal, and see if the problem persists. If problems do continue, a technician will be needed at the home to correct the problem. If you are still having this issue, please email me at [email protected] and I will make sure you are taken care of.

Have a dish 625 and hooked up new 1080p got a

Hello, this is Matthew Gonzales with DISH Network customer service. A fuzzy/distorted picture can be caused by a couple different things. First of all, although your TV is 1080p HD, the 625 DVR is a standard definition receiver so the picture may not be as clear as expected. You should be getting a clear picture, but it will not be HD. First thing I would do is check the cables, making sure that any cables that you use are secured, and not damaged. If possible you may even want to try replacing cables. You can also try performing a reset on your receiver if you haven't. To reset your receiver, you simply unplug it from its power outlet for about 15 seconds, then plug it back in. Your receiver will reboot, which takes about 5 minutes. If you have performed all of these steps, or continue to have the issues, please email me at [email protected].

I have a dvr 625 every so often while watching tv1

Press menu-6-1-3. Now select details and scroll all the way to the end. If any value has a number greater than a single digit the box will definitely need to be replaced. I can not explain why the issue would have started after the smart card was installed other than coincidence.
I hope this assists you and thanks for using Fix Ya.

Hi
First get ahold of Dish Network and have your dish realigned. Sometimes excessive wind or birds can move the dish away from it's optimum recption. At this point also, the repair person can tell you if the equipment is bad.

Recovery of content on DVR-625 hard drive

usually hard drive failure boils down to files not opening succesfully, or a random internal failure, not a physical issue with the hard drive, however because dish network repairs these issues on a large scale the fix is to wipe the software and start over which means all recordings are lost, unfortunately recovering these recordings is basically impossible... if you often record things which are imperative to your business i would suggest getting a 622/722 dvr which will allow you to download these recordings to an external hard drive via usb, you will have unlimited use uploading and downloading programs for a one time fee of about 40$

Why does my dish network overheat

The 625s have always tended to run warm. Couple that with an installation where the receiver is sitting in a cubby hole, and it may have issues. Entertainment centers that are enclosed (solid back w/ maybe holes for wires, glass doors) can cause problems as well.

The 625 already has issues with the hard drive, though a firmware should have taken care of it. Check your Menu - Preference - Inactivity Timer and try setting it to turn the receiver off and give it a chance to cool during the wee hours of the morning. I can't remember if the 625 has this option though.

Decoder keep scanning

well, firstly. u have a sat finder!! great!! now lets see if i can teach u how to use it, when you hook it up there will always be some sort of signal, (other electronic waves in the air) the best way to check is to put ur hand in front of the LNB (the square box in front of the dish) if he signal goes down, the signal was fine to begin with, if it goes up, the dish is out, if nothing happens... dead LNB, which in my experiance, the most likely cause, dont for get to reset your decoder once you have solved the problem.. good luck

We keep losing shows!

Check to see how full you DVR is. This happened to us and our DVR was filled up. When that happens the DVR starts to delete stuff, even protected things. It will first delete non-protected shows and then if there are none left to delete and room is still needed, it will delete other shows. Not sure, or can't remember how it prioritizes the deletion but it happens.
Check how full you DVR is and that may be where your problem lies.
