Receiver says center channel unavailable

It may be the surround mode you are in. Some modes do not use the center channel. Try changing to a pro logic mode, these will almost always use the center

I have Onkyo TX-SR304E receiver, it plays find on

Check the impedance of your speakers. It sounds like the amp is getting overloaded and shutting down either for over current or over heating.
Most common issue is a partially blown speaker or crossover.
Sometimes it's just a rogue strand of wire, and reconnecting everything fixes it.
But measure the impedance on all the speakers anyways!

I am trying to connect a wii to an onkyo

The pecking order for output video to your monitor forbids a lower quality video (composite (Yellow) being up-ticked to anything higher (your component out) (Page23).

The wii would be visible on the Monitor Out composite output (Page 24) to the TV.

How to program remote control?

Your Onkyo TX-SR304 receivers remote (RC-645S) is not capable of controlling devices by other manufacturers. It controls only Onkyo devices.
Other Onkyo remotes do have universal remote functionality and you can download Onkyo remote codes here.

I hope that helps.

My receiver keeps shutting off

most of the time this is an over heating problem with the unit. Make sure that it has proper ventalation around it. It could also mean that the fan is shot on the unit . You could try using a can of compressed air in it to free up some of the dust that has accumalated inside of the unit. Hope this helps

I have a onkyo tx sr304 and a onkyo 6 disc player

The only possibility that comes to mind is that it may be causing a short somehow when the carousel gets to that position, maybe a broken solder joint. Another possibility is that there may be a foreign object stuck inside the player such as another disc that lost it's position.

Do you want to turn off the whole display?

There is a 3-way Dimmer on the front panel and the remote controller. The manual doesn't say if it will turn completely OFF.

Switching digital inputs with a remote?

The default assignments for the digital INPUTs to Source names are:

OPT1= Video2
OPT2= CD.

If you have never changed them you should be able to select the PS3 by choosing Video2 and the 360 by choosing CD.

Or you could go into the setup routine on Page 33 of the manual and assign each digital input to a different 'function' that works better for you.

By the way, if you have the choice of coaxial vs optical cables on a given device the cheaper, longer and least sensitive-to-dirt-and-damage choice is coaxial - plain RCA cables. You can even extend them with Male-Female extender cables or split them with Y-cables for sharing one port with two devices or one device feeding two other devices (example: Cable Box-to-TV-and-Receiver). Just don't have two sources feeding one input turned on at the same time or they'll interfere with each other. Try that with optical cables.

I have

what u can utilize on your tx-sr304 is the optical input at the back of the receiver. connect an optical cable from your PS3 into the receiver then follow these steps:
*make sure that the digital input on the front panel of your receiver matches where you placed the optical at the back of the tx-sr304 (either OPT1 or OPT2)
*all you have to do is keep pressing the digital input at the front panel until it goes to OPT1 or OPT2 (preferrably stay on DVD mode)
AFTER completing this go to your PS3 settings:
go to settings / then go to sound settings / then audio output settings / then set it to DIGITAL OUT (optical)/ then play and enjoy.....ü
