Xbox live, change nat from strict to open...belkin

On your router configuration page (192.168.2.1), you should see a link for the DMZ, put your Xbox 360's IP in the DMZ, and save it. You may want to set your Xbox up with a static IP for this. It puts it outside the network and requires no port forwarding.

How do i put a password on my internet

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If you want to make your connection secure by using a password you need to access the router settings page and change the security type. Follow the instruction below on how to make the connection secure.

- You need to know the ipaddress of your router. You can refer to the manual or check the Default Gateway of your computer (Make sure that you connect the computer to the router using an ethernet cable for you to get the Default Gateway). Click on START then RUN. Type CMD on the small box on the lower left of the screen. Type IPCONFIG on the black window and get the value of your DEFAULT GATEWAY (it starts with 192.168.x.x).

- Open a Browser, Type the DEFAULT GATEWAY or the Ipaddress of the router on the address bar of your Browser. It will ask you for a username and password. For Belkin Router it usually ask for a Password. If it ask you for a username and password just leave it blank

- Click on Encryption, You can select either WEP, WPA or WPA2 to make it secure. Then personalize a password. Then confirm the changes try you wireless machine to connect.

Make sure you connect to your SSID and enter the personalize network key. Network key serves as a password on the network so that no one can access the internet unless they knw the password.

Yes you can reset your router to factory defaults. You should find a little hole on back of unit near the power plug hole.

Insert a straighten paperclip while power is on. Hold it for about 10 seconds. After that, unplug power on your modem and the router. Plug back the power on the MODEM FIRST and wait 1 min. Then plug back the power on your router. Wait about 20 sec and the internet should be ok now.

If you still have the setup CD, go ahead making your setup and choose a new passcode. If you don't have it you can email me and I will guide you with manual access to your router settings.

My son changed my NAT

To open the set up page of the router of the router , one of your computer should be able to go online through the router.
It could be a wired computer or wireless computer.
If it is a wireless computer then make sure that the computer is connected to your own wireless network.
Do not change any wireless settings on the router using a wireless computer.
OK ! Now you have a computer online through the router and you want to open the set up page of the router.

First step is check the IP address of the computer.
Check the IP address and the Default gateway on the computer.

For Windows XP

START ==> RUN ==> type in cmd in the RUN box==> click OK or Hit ENTER . You will see a black window that is a command prompt . In the black window type in " ipconfig " ==> and Hit ENTER on your key board .

For Windows Vista and Windows 7

click on START ==> type in cmd in the start search box ==> enter ==> you will see the black window. Type in " ipconfig "you will see a lot of information. Try to find out the local area connection IPv4 address .

Note down the Default gateway number.

For MAC OS

Click APPLE icon in the right top corner of the computer. Go to System Preferences ==> go to Network ==> you will find the option Built in Ethernet or Airport whichever is connected. If you go to that you will find the Ip address and router Address.

The default gateway is the IP address of your router.

This IP address of the router will be used to open the set up page of the router

Now you got the IP address of the router.Open the Internet Browser ( Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari )

In the Address bar of the browser Type the IP address of the router.

Do not type http:// or www just type in the IP address only.

It will ask you for the user name and the password of the router.

This is the User name and the password of the router and NOT the wireless password. On a wireless router, there are 2 passwords. One is to access the router and the other one is for the wireless network.

For most of the routers the default password will be " admin " . for some routers the default password is " password ". For Linksys router the default password is admin and no user name.

How do i turn off

Open INTERNET EXPLORER and. (In the URL address field), enter the IP address for your wireless router ( the DEFAULT GATEWAY. This information should be contained in your router's manual. If you cannot find it, enter "198.168.1.1" as the address. This is usually the default IP address for most routers.do not type "www" just the number
Enter the username and password for your router. This should also be supplied in the router's manual. If you don't have this information, go to routerpasswords.com and find the brand and model of your router. This site lists the default login information for most wireless routers you can try "ADMIN" for user name and "PASSWORD" for passsword.
You should now be able to see your wireless router settings. You can configure your network ports, as well as SSID (wireless network name) and passwords.

Need 2 open NAT

If you have a firewall or network hardware, such as a router, you might need to make a configuration change in order for your Xbox 360 console to communicate with Xbox LIVE. This configuration change is sometimes called "opening ports" or "port forwarding." Xbox LIVE requires the following ports to be open:
  • Port 88 (UDP)
  • Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
  • Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
  • Port 80 (TCP)
For Belkin router follow this stepsConfiguring port forwarding

In order to configure this, you need to know:

- The IP address of the computer or device to have the port forwarded to.

- The port numbers to be used and whether these are TCP or UDP ports

(Note: We recommend you use a computer that has a wired connection to the router.)

Setup steps:

  1. Open a Web Browser on the computer. Type in http://192.168.2.1
  2. In the address bar of the Web Browser type Click Login in the upper right hand corner of the page. The router does not ship with a password, so just click submit.

login.jpg

  1. Click on Virtual Servers under Firewall in the menu on the left

firewall_vir_ser.jpg

  1. Enter the following information
    • Disable Firwall
    • Type the port(s) specified by the program manufacture for both of the Inbound port fields
    • Select TCP, UDP, or BOTH for the Type.
    • Private IP address: Enter the IP address of the computer you want grant access too.
    • Type the port(s) specified by the program manufacture for both of the Private port fields.

  1. Click the Apply Changes button
