I would look to see if there are any nearby wireless networks residing on the same or adjacent channel. If so, change the channel the router is broadcasting the network on as this can easily cause the types of issues you are describing.

First try replacing your LAN cable between you internet modem and the router. A bad cable the is intermittent may cause this issue. Try rebooting the modem. Also if possible try a direct connection to your internet modem by LAN cable or wireless and see if your connection stays up. Might be that the IP ranges are not in the same subclass network if the IP numbers are not coming from the same DHCP server.
Did you check the IP number on Computer B in case of the cabled connection and when it is connected on the WiFi? They should only differ in the last digits, not the first 3 groups.

Not enough information. But if I had to guess, make certain that you have the older wirless network turn on at the router. You father laptop my not support the N network. A router usually call this cts protection mode.
