Zoom H4, Won't upload to Cubase Le.
Hi Ken,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble uploading the recordings from your Zoom H4 to the Cubase LE software. Have you tried connecting the Zoom H4 to your computer via USB and then importing the recordings directly into the Cubase LE program? You may also want to make sure that you have the latest version of the software installed on your computer, as well as the latest drivers for the Zoom H4. If you are still having difficulty, please don't hesitate to contact the Zoom or Cubase support teams for further assistance. I hope this helps!
Hi there. I'm using an
There could be a few potential causes for the issue you're experiencing with your H4 recorder and Cubase LE 4. Here are a few things you can try to resolve the problem:
- Check the device driver: Make sure that the ZOOM H4 ASIO driver is properly installed on your computer. You may need to reinstall the driver if it has become corrupted or is not up to date.
- Make sure the device is connected: Ensure that the H4 recorder is properly connected to your computer and that the connection is secure.
- Restart the computer: Sometimes, simply restarting the computer can resolve issues with drivers or software.
- Check the Cubase LE 4 settings: Make sure that the H4 recorder is selected as the input and output device in Cubase LE 4's preferences.
- Check for updates: Check for updates for both Cubase LE 4 and the H4 recorder to ensure that you are using the latest version.
- Disable other audio devices: If you have other audio devices connected to your computer, try disabling them to see if that resolves the problem.
- Run Cubase LE 4 as administrator: Try running Cubase LE 4 as an administrator, by right-clicking on the Cubase icon and selecting "Run as administrator"
- Check for conflicts: Make sure that there are no other software running that may be conflicting with the H4 recorder and Cubase LE 4, such as other audio recording software or system services that may be using the audio driver.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be best to contact the manufacturer of the H4 recorder or Cubase LE 4 for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or offer a solution to the problem.

Mac OS 10.4 and higher require the Zoom H4 to be upgraded.
Go to http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/download/software/h4.php#a and choose the download to version 2.20 that applies to you. The instructions are there, but it is a little tricky. You must download the upgrade to your computer and then transfer it to your Zoom SD card. To do that you need an SD card reader. I used my digital camera. I took the SD card out of the zoom and put it in the digital camera. I Plugged the camera into the computer and when the SD card icon appeared on the desktop I dragged the "System Bin" file from the download to the zoom folder. The rest of their instructions were pretty good. Good Luck.
Zoom H4 Recorder Says, "Card Full!" But it is NOT!
I encounter this error with my 16 gb SD card and Zoom H4n.
I try to format the card inside and outside fo the Zoom, use 8 gb and 32 gb instead of 16gb card and, but get the same error.
But I find a solution.
1. I format my SD card inside Zoom with builtin utility. (Menu - SD Card - Format)
2. I reinstall Zoom firmware
(instruction and download here:
http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/h4n/software/ )
3. I format SD card inside Zoom again.
I took a several test and didn't get a "Card Full" error.

Ask your dealer, the one you bought it from. They may suggest an easy fix or guide you best on how to get it repaired, or at the very least suggest a place near you to have it repaired. If your dealer doesn't know, ask any Zoom dealer for repair info. Meanwhile, I assume you've checked your battery compartment to make sure the terminal connections are not loose (and of course that you've tried new batteries - :) ). Also, check Menu>Battery to see if alkaline or nickel batteries is checked. Finally, try removing your SD card and re-inserting, (even re-formatting the card, perhaps, but trying merely re-inserting first). But make sure any songs/info on the card are backed up first, because you will lose info if re-formatting the card. (For that matter, you could try a new card.)
I have a Zoom H4N
If your H4n is in STAMINA mode (Switch in battery compartment) then MODE is not viewable in the MENU. Simply Turn off the STAMINA Switch and restart your H4n (Turn H4n OFF then ON again) Hope that HelpsCheersJaysan

Which firmware do you have? It should say on the screen when you turn it on. If it 1.10, or 1.0, you need to update the firmware by going to the Zoom support page:
http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/download/software/h4.php
Directions and firmware download is all there.
If you are already on 2.0 or 2.4, then try reformatting the card with the Zoom. This will delete anything on the card, so backup first!! Good luck.
