Replace the batteries.

Chances are there to recover such kind of deleted files from your Olympus recorder.

First things first: DO NOT take any more videos or audio with the recorder that you want to recover files from in case you may quite possibly ruin your chances of voice memo file recovery.

Then connect your device to a PC, and have a try of Photo Recovery (also recover audio, voice memos, video files etc), a data recovery program which is good at recovering media files lost. If you are Mac OS X users, turn to Data Recovery for Mac.

Lastly, I hope you good luck. Again you should remember - the more you use your recorder, the less likely you may be able to recover the deleted files back! So STOP using the device ASAP.

The folder is light-coloured because it is hidden. Right-click the folder, select 'Properties' from the menu and remove 'hidden' attribute and click 'OK'.

Connect your recorder to computer..and start the updater.

I don't know if a Mac version of software came with your Digital Recorder.

I have a PC, and a similar Digital Recorder. A DS-330 but I'm too lazy to install the software, DSS Player 2002 and then look for the USB cable.

So, I connected the Digital Recorder's Ear directly to the audio-in of the PC via a mono (2 wire) patch cable, with a standard 3.5 mm plug at each end. (As long as it fits in both, the Recorder and your MacBook, it will work). I suspect "The Source" (Radio Shack) may have such item.
You can also use a "stereo" patch cable.

I use Audacity as the sound recorder and then convert it to MP3. There is a version for Mac available too.

A maximum recording time per file is set for each mode. Even if the recorder's memory is not used up, recording cannot be continued beyond the limit.

Check your operators manual....amount of recording time is dependent on "quality" mode of recoring.

Can't do it...once files are deleted there is no "recycle Bin".

You go to the Menu files. Then go to the bottom menu showing a wrench. Then go to the bottom of the file, you need to go below the visible menus using the right arrow to get to System Info. Scroll down to get the serial number.

if you know where the files are just put a blanck cd inth your disc drive oppen my computer and drag and drop the files into the icom for the blanck cd
then dubble click on the cd icon and on the left hand side of the window it should have an option "write files th cd" click on that and a wizard should oppen
its esay from then on

Yes, you can, but only with Olympus DS-2400, DS-3400 & DS-5000

Above is the update that makes the software compatible with Vista and then there is an update from the olympusamerica website that also needs to be run as well.
